Hi, I have applied for a DTV to go to Thailand. I work for myself and all my clients are remote. I have all their contracts etc to prove that with history of payments, tax return, etc. I just don't have $22000 which they are asking me to provide a bank statement showing that amount. I have $13000 and I have regular payments from my clients. I am a single parent and have become homeless after a separation however I can get free accommodation in Thailand with a friend to save and have lower costs for a while.

I'm trying to find out if I can still get this visa without the $22000? I also want to know if I had the extra $10000 deposited today, would they accept that?
Summary so far
The individual is seeking clarification on whether they can obtain a Thai DTV visa despite not meeting the financial requirement of $22,000, as they currently have $13,000 and regular income from remote clients. They inquire if a recent deposit of $10,000 would satisfy the requirement. Comments indicate that without meeting the full financial criteria, the application is likely to be rejected, and suggest alternatives such as obtaining a financial sponsor or an education visa (ED visa).

From what I see you are 1099 worker? Or a business owner? If that’s the case you need to cash in the account. If you work for a company then you need to show the income for the month.

You are not special. You need to qualify legally and legitimately. Work hard and save so you qualify and if you get a Visa, you will appreciate it all the more.

Are you Australian?

22k AUD in a bank account in your name is a base requirement for you to get a DTV. Without that you simply won't get one for yourself. If you also want to bring your child as a dependant on a DTV you need double that amount. You could possibly take your child into Thailand visa exempt and let them overstay, not the best idea but if they're under 15 there's no overstay penalty for them other than the overstay stamp in their passport. 15 or older then they get fined for overstay until 18. Then they get banned on top of the fine

You does not fulfill the requirements ( it’s even the most important one).

Until you fulfill the requirements a application will lead to rejection and loss of the 10.000 baht visafee.

Also the whole amount has to have been in at the personal account as long as the Embassy you apply at require.

You can not choose which requirements you wabt to fulfill and which not, you have (of course) to fulfill them all totally.

Don’t apply until you fulfill the requirements.

in the bank, essentially homeless and living day to day based on potential income from clients and potential freeloading on arrival... Are you gambling on life somewhat? No surprise that Thailand officials get annoyed with visas being taken advantage of and change rules so often..

The 500k Baht amount has to have naturally accumulated in your account and maintained for 3-6 months. If you deposit a big amount out of the blue right before applying for the visa, they will flag that too.And the 500k is unfortunately necessary.

you need proof of three months savings account statement over 500,000 THB equivalent. That's something like $13,500 USD . . I have no idea where you take those $22,000 USD from. You need to be permanent resident of the country where you apply, and you need a police record

If your children need DTV visas, you would need that amount for each of them. They want you to have those funds for emergency purposes, so they know you have the resources to handle an emergency

No chance if you don't meet the embassy criteria.

With recent deposits you can be asked to show where it came from. Take the 10k and prepare to provide details of its' source. Which embassy are you applying from ?

Sadly no. You must have the required amount and have had it in your bank account for at least the past 3 months.

I will say this though, there ARE agencies out there that can fabricate details but I’d be incredibly weary and cautious if you ever decide to use that route. I know some ppl here will probably frown upon this suggestion, but i know a few people who used those services and had no issue.

problem with this sort of stuff is it might work but when those people get caught years later they will track down everyone that used their services

yea, i don’t know anyone personally who’s used those services after the rule changes, just before. But i don’t think it really changes much as long as there’s nothing to hide. Definitely wouldn’t let an agency fabricate a criminal report though haha

providing a fraud document will lead to rejection and a ban from getting visa toThailand.

i just said that i wouldn’t trust a fabricated cr. I also warned OP to be wary if they decide to use these services. Also i don’t really see how adding a cr to the requirements stops the use of these services. If you ain’t a criminal but short on money in the bank, they don’t really affect each other? They could have a completely clean cr but just get the help with the bank statement stuff. I’m not telling anyone it’s a great idea or that they SHOULD do it, but i understand the feeling of desperation and wanted to give OP another avenue to look down.

The rule changes were put in place to stop these "services". Yep, not smart to submit a fabricated CR

You can get someone to sponsor you, it is however hard to get approved with - depending on the embassy.
