TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the status of Visa Runs from Thailand, mentioning that agents have indicated "border closed". The community provided varying insights, mentioning ongoing issues at certain land borders, with some suggesting that it is safer to fly than to attempt a land border run. There were indications that while the border with Laos is reportedly open at certain points, traveling by land can be problematic, and some have advised flying instead. In a lighter remark, one user suggested a playful strategy for crossing the Cambodian border.

You’ll be fine. No worries. Head to the Cambodian border and just tell them you’re there to gamble at the casino. You’ll get right in.

there only letting Thai Generals cross the border

They won’t even let you out of the country in some land based border run situations. They are requiring you to fly. That’s what some people have been posting anyway.

Are you dense or have you not been keeping up with what is going on

There have been recurring issues at the land borders for quite some time now, and flying is by far the more reliable option.

Flying is not reliable at all. If you get denied e try they will lock you in a cell like some common crook and take your passport away, and you will be paying for the privilege.

If you cross by land worst case scenario they tell you to walk back and you can try again next day

@Jordan ****
walk back ?? You’ll need a visa to re enter wherever your walking back to a could get deported from there

if I leave Laos and I have 5 days left on my visa and Thailand sends me back, the Laos immigration will stamp me back in. If by some misfortune it expired by the time I return to Laos. they will accomodate me somehow, because they are not unreasonable.

No one who was denied entry in Thailand was ever deported from Laos

except at the Laos borders they are not letting you leave Thailand unless you can show how you will get back in

It is a different question if you have an extensive entry history. The question here was simply whether the borders were open or not. All borders with Cambodia are of course closed now, as they have been for months, and at the Lao borders there has been chaos for a long time, with people not even being allowed to leave Thailand unless they have a visa that allows them to re-enter.
