I have non-IB visa with work permit now. I want to resign from my job, and back with DTV. Is it possible? How to make sure they dont reject it? I have a car here and other important things that I can't just leave behind me.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible to resign from a job on a Non-IB visa and apply for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand, but it involves specific steps and careful planning. Once you resign, your work permit will be canceled, typically granting only 7 days to exit Thailand before your Non-IB visa expires. DTV applications must be submitted from outside Thailand, which requires solid financial documentation to prove income from foreign sources. To avoid rejection, ensure DTV requirements are met first, apply only after cancellation of your Non-IB status, and maintain legal visa status during the transition.
Yes, it is technically possible to resign and apply for DTV.
However, timing and documentation are very important.
Once your work permit is cancelled, your Non-IB visa will normally allow only 7 days before you must leave Thailand.
DTV must be applied from outside Thailand, and you need to clearly demonstrate foreign income and that you are not working for a Thai company.
If you resign and immediately apply without a strong financial profile, there is a risk the application could be questioned.
I would recommend preparing the DTV documentation first, reviewing eligibility carefully, and planning the exit timeline strategically before cancelling the work permit.
When you resign, your Non-B and work permit will be canceled, and you’ll usually get a short extension (often 7 days) to leave Thailand. You cannot switch directly to DTV inside Thailand. You must apply from outside Thailand.
To reduce risk of rejection:
• Make sure you fully meet DTV requirements (financial proof + proper workcation/soft power documents).
• Apply only after your Non-B is properly canceled (no overstay).
• Don’t resign until you’re confident your DTV documents are solid.
If you have a car and belongings, you can leave them in Thailand — just make sure your visa status stays legal and you exit properly before applying.
Nothing preventing you from leaving Thailand and applying for a DTV once you cancel your work permit and your extension of stay, if you are actually on a visa you'll need to find a way to cancel it first
