Your on an extension of stay not a visa. You choose the consulate you want to travel to in order to apply for the DTV and look up their requirements, travel, apply and remain there until your application is completed and you have the visa in your possession. You will need a minimum of 500k baht in a bank account and proof of either remote work or having signed up for a soft power category with a business that will provide proof you have done so.

You do something that qualifies for DTV, such as remote work, or a soft power activity like Muay Thai, cooking school, or medical procedures. Then you leave Thailand without a re-entry permit to cancel your retirement extension and apply for the visa at a Thai embassy.
