Requirements for Monthly Income Documentation
I made another visit to my local immigration office in Khon Kaen yesterday to further clarify what is expected for monthly deposits to Thailand for my visa extension. I am American, so I no longer can obtain an income affidavit. I took to them a paper given to me by BKK Bank, which listed ALL activity on the account for 12 months. The IO seemed to be satisfied with this. I also gave her the form statement from US Social Security, which showed how much I was paid in 2019 and how much I will receive in 2020. The amounts are more than enough to satisfy what’s needed for a marriage visa.
IN ADDITION, she said they would like to see statements from my US bank indicating pension deposits & subsequent transfers to Thailand. This is no problem for me to produce, but the request was somewhat of a surprise, since I had not heard this before. I will be going again in mid-March to do my 90 day report & double check again. Sorry for the long post, but that’s the short version.
TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen seeking a marriage visa extension in Thailand learned about the documentation needed to demonstrate monthly income deposits. During a recent visit to the Khon Kaen immigration office, the officer accepted a 12-month activity report from a bank along with Social Security income statements. The officer also requested statements from the US bank showing pension deposits and transfers to Thailand, highlighting the importance of checking local immigration office requirements.
