Is it normal for the Thai Consulate in Frankfurt to return documents and passport after a visa interview?

Hello everybody,

So I applied for my DTV(workcation) in Frankfurt, Germany about two weeks ago. They called me in for an interview today, asked me for more details(from my employer ) which I will send them via an email they provided. However, they returned all my documents and my passport. Is this normal?

Many thanks for your feedback!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a DTV (workcation) visa at the Royal Thai Consulate General in Frankfurt and was called for a follow-up interview. They were surprised when their passport and documents were returned to them after the interview. Responses from the community indicate that returning documents is common, especially as only e-Visas are processed in Frankfurt, and applicants must be present in Germany during the application process.

Frankfurt is only e-Visa (ALL visa applications must be submitted through

(e-Visa website) ONLY. The Royal Thai Consulate General in Frankfurt does NOT accept hard copies of visa applications, either by post or in-person at the Consulate.), but they say they can call you in for an interview (It is necessary for the visa applicants to be present in Germany for the submission of e-Visa application and its fee payment. In some cases, the Consulate may invite the applicant to the Embassy for an in-person interview; therefore, the applicant is strongly advised to remain in Germany until the decision is made.)

Good luck!
