What should I expect during my DTV visa interview at the Laos embassy, and can I leave the country afterwards?
Hi everybody,
I applied for a digital nomade dtv visa from the Vientiane (Laos) embassy and in a few days I'll have an interview at the embassy.
Do you know what kind of questions they will ask me?
Also do you know if I can leave the country and go to Vietnam as soon as the interview is over? Or if they might still need my passport or ask for another interview?

it took 2 weeks (before sending me the interview date they sent me 2 emails asking for more documents)M-d ********

I got my DTV in laos too. Just prepare to show your 3 months bank statements in your mobile banking, why you want to live in thailand and also some documents regarding your digital nomad profile.
Its basically what you submit through application, they just want to confirm.
And its best you do not leave the country during process. U will get the visa update on the same date of your interview.
You can even ask the interviewer when you will get the result. Cheers

How are you supporting yourself (someone sponsoring you?
Show me your Muay Thai receipt you have paid up.
Open your banking app and hand me your phone so I can scroll back to see transactions. Wait for results by email. Approval email came about 3 or 4 hours later. Oh and how long is the course (it's 9 months)

"I want to learn Muay Thai. I live with my parents" LOL. Parent provided a sponsor letter etc. Also note, the interview was mostly in Thai.Gregory ********

They will ask to see your Bank account on your phone. Ask how you will support yourself... And ask the name of your soft power school.. ask to see a receipt that you paid for it.
After the interview you will have to wait a few hours to learn whether or not you will get the visa.. You can go to Vietnam directly after...but Thailand, you will need to wait to receive your visa first of course.

DTV Workation, EU Citizen, remote business started few years ago.
5th May - I arrived to Hanoi
8th May - I applied for DTV for workation
13th May - status changed to pending approval
15th May - rejected (no reason given). I went to embassy and asked them personally,after she checked my document, she said - "Change an embassy". That was a bit ridiculous but I did what she said.
23rd May - I arrived to Vientiane (Laos)
24th May - I applied again
26th May - I was asked for an additional document which I provided but in better quality (passport bio page)
26th May after about 1 hour - status changed to pending approval
26th May after another 1 hour - I was invited for interview
5th June - Interview and visa approved.
Interview Question:
What kind of plans do you have to spend time in Thailand?
Show me account with your invoice payments
Show me account where you have a balance over 500k
Show me what do you do, examples of your work
Key tips:
Dress well, be polite and elegant, very important thing in my opinion
Take your laptop or print everything what you have provided
Double check if your mobile apps are working to show your statements or bank balance
Smile (yes,really), don't go there like you would go to jail, this helps in my opinion

no nothing, but I saw a post saying it's better to print some documents. I'll print the invoices I sent to my customers for the past 6 months as well as my bank statements

Make life more easy, as you have to be at the interview, you can ask if it is okay to leave the country while waiting for the decision to issue or deny you a visa.
The Embassy staff can officially tell you if it is okay to leave, we can only asume, guess and read crystal balls.

You need to wait in Laos until your visa is approved. Often it is issued soon after the interview . You will be asked basic questions on your application, why you want the DTV, your plans in Thailand. Prepare to show your bank balance on your phone.

Anonymous participant They send via email. Thai immigration can revoke visas on/post arrival having found out the visa holder was non compliant with its' issue.
