Hi, bought pickup from Mitsubishi and they took photo copy of this form I got from immigration and sent to government to register the truck. Government says cannot use copy, they want original or the truck won't be legal. Is this normal?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user faced an issue while registering their Mitsubishi pickup, as the government rejected the photocopy of the TM30 receipt and required the original document. Comments clarified that typically, a residence certificate is needed for vehicle registration, and using a TM30 receipt is uncommon. It's advisable to obtain a certificate of residency or other required documents for legal vehicle registration.

Hi, I had a Certificate of Residence from the tourist police but the driving licence department kept it. I didn't think to ask for them to take a copy and give me back the original. I'll give Mitsubishi this as this is what they're asking for and wait for the next phone call!! Thanks for replying

Get another Certificate of Residence from your IO.

Had you asked, they would have replied - and I quote from my own experience: „One original, one job.“ Tried to give the DLT a copy only - showing them the original to proof validity of the copy. Forget it. Bureaucratic mess - everything official in Thailand.

You can't use a tm30 to register a vehicle, need a certificate of residency, work permit, or yellow book.

I am surprised they accepted a mere TM30 receipt to begin with. Usually, they insist on a a "Residence Certificate" from immigration, instead. Original only, of course.
