1.Can I legally drive a motorbike I purchased before the ownership transfer from the bike shop?
It's currently registered and insured by the owner.
2. For a certificate of residence; I need to submit the TM30 documents..
Will a hotel receipt suffice, or is a rental contract required? I'm in the process of looking for a permanent residence.
I'm staying on a retirement visa, but relocated recently to another province.
Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has questions regarding the legality of driving a motorbike prior to ownership transfer and what documents are required for obtaining a TM30 residence certificate. According to community responses, it is generally permissible to drive the motorbike if you have the bill of sale or permission from the previous owner. For the TM30 residence certificate, having a hotel receipt may suffice outside Bangkok, but a rental contract is recommended for more permanent residency verification. It's also suggested to request a screenshot from the hotel of their TM30 filing.

1. If youâve been given permission to ride the bike then thereâs no issue.
2. Ask your hotel for a screenshot of their filing a TM30. That will suffice for a residency certificate (outside of Bangkok.). Inside youâd need to have done a 90 day report before immigration would issue one.
Youâll need the screenshot of the TM30 filing. A copy of your passport data page, a copy of your visa/entry stamp and a photo. Cost is 300baht for the âfast trackâ service. Free if youâre happy to wait a week.

Depends on which province you are intending to register within and the immigration office policy.
