What are the best options for extending a 30-day visa exemption in Thailand, and is it worth using an agent?

Currently on 30 day visa exemption (expiring 27th) - I’m assuming easiest extension option is the 30day extension. From what I understand these are pretty easy to do yourself and since they need to be done in person is there advantage to using an agent? Would probably be willing to pay a little extra to speed up the process (if anyone can recommend a good agent). Also seems leaving it until 26th might be a better idea to try and avoid the rush for the covid extensions? Or is this a seperate queue there?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a 30-day visa exemption in Thailand expiring soon and is considering the easiest extension option, specifically a 30-day extension. They inquire about the benefits of using an agent for this process, express a possibility of waiting until the last day to avoid rush, and seek advice on handling the extension smoothly. Responses from the community clarify that the 30-day extension is straightforward and can be done independently without an agent, as it typically takes little time if all necessary documents are prepared. Agents may save a trip to immigration but do not expedite the application process.

Make an appointment online for many offices, saves hours.

I would avoid any immigration office until they either announce an extension or after the 25th. It will be crazy. Getting your own extension shouldn't take hours. As long as you have everything you need it can be less then 30 minutes.

Ditto what Pui Sun said. Different queue for Covid extension anyway.

You generally have to get the 30 day extension before they will grant the 60 day covid one, so you're going to have to just apply for the 30 day one. Very easy to do. Absolutely no need to use an agent. Anyone can do it themselves with almost zero effort. There's no speeding up the process as it is granted on the spot. Agents are only helpful because you don't have to go to immigration yourself.

They'll be closed if he does that?

yes sounds pretty simple but potentially time consuming (queuing for a few hours) I guess. But probably no way around that.
