Is it easy to apply for the STV visa in Thailand by yourself or should you hire a professional service?

Has anyone here applied for the STV visa? Is it easy enough to do yourself, or would you pay a professional service such as Trunk or Royal Vacation to do it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Many participants in the discussion agree that applying for the STV visa in Thailand is manageable on your own, emphasizing that paying professional services like Trunk or Royal Vacation is unnecessary. Some have shared personal experiences, reporting a straightforward process, with approval times sometimes as quick as two days. Comments also suggest checking additional resources tagged under STV for more information, indicating a supportive community willing to help. Overall, the consensus is to tackle the application independently to save money and effort.

Quite easy to do, although looks more in involved than it is. Once I had submitted it (London Embassy), apart from a small query they had, it was issued within 2 days.

No, but going soon. You have to enter the country within 3 months of the approval date. The 60 days starts from when you arrive.

ok, cool. 60 days? You must have applied for the TR visa, not the STV.

hi Michael. I can’t find it (new to using FB groups). When I go to Topics, it comes up as different hashtags. I select #STV then only 1 post about STV comes up.

Both are shitty agency's. Absolutely no reason why you'd pay them to fill in the forms for you.

wow ok. I’ve had so many people say positive things about both agencies. They also include the Thai Pass, quarantine accomm, transport, PCR tests, etc as part of their packages. I just thought it may be easier and less stress. I am unvaccinated, so it makes things a bit more difficult. Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.

. The visa is a totally separate issue to the Thailand Pass. Being unvaccinated you will also encounter some restrictions in Thailand, as provinces often change their policies at short notice.

yeah I know it’s separate, I was going to use an agency for the whole thing, not just STV. So… Thai Pass, quarantine accomm, PCR test bookings, visa, etc. I’ve heard there is restrictions within Thailand so I’m hoping my medical exemption comes through and I can show that. Or maybe things would have eased up by the time I get there.

. Not exactly an "agent" for Thailand Pass (he's actually an AXA insurance agent) but someone who will for a very reasonable fee help with your Thailand Pass application is Robert Jackson . Drop him a line and have a chat if there's anything you want to know.

I would not recommend Jackson either, there's a reason he's not in this group.

Packages are almost always more expensive than booking them individually. People don't work for free.

Tick all the boxes and do it yourself. Agents are just throwing money away for having someone push papers around for you.

. That gives me a lot more confidence. Being an unvaccinated traveller, things are even more complicated then they already are, so I thought an agent could help with this. I appreciate your advice. Thanks.

Darren Jenkins. Unless you're computer-illiterate, I wouldn't suggest you use an agent. They will charge you a stack of dollars for something you can do yourself. It can be daunting but it's simply a case of plodding through it bit by bit. If you come up against a curly question ask the group and you'll get a constructive answer.

has been in and out of Thailand it seems a dozen times since covid started so be guided by his expertise. I know one guy who's here now on the STV and he did it himself. He's a cattle farmer from way out west in Australia, and trust me, if HE can do it, I'd bet my bottom dollar you can
