Hello everybody!

Thank you guys for helping me on my last post and here as promised my update on my adventure to get my second STV visa.

Its been a ride but I am finally back in the Land of Smiles with a STV stamp until the 15th of march!

I was able to figure out thanks to you guys how to select the STV on the EVisa application and shortly uploaded all my documents (I already have a condo contract and a long running insurance plan so that wasn’t a problem for me).

I submitted all my documents on 02.12.2021 and was prepared to at least wait 7 days for my visa to be processed but found myself lucky enough to have my EVisa 2 days later in my Email inbox by the Thai embassy in Germany. All in all a very easy and understandable process. Thai pass was also approved a few days later.

So on the 15.12.2021 I started my journey back with my pile of documents to Bangkok.

Once arrived at immigration I did have a little bit of a hick up happen to me.

I wasn’t questioned why I stay so long in Thailand or why I am on my second STV but I was asked to wait for a few minutes because the Thai Embassy in Germany had filed something wrong in my Visa and needed to be corrected which confused me quite a bit. The officer explained nicely enough that something was typed wrong and it had been corrected in the system and I just have to file a complained and they would handle the rest. Has this happened to anybody else? Is it because the EVisa system is relatively new and the Embassies have not fully finessed it yet? Please let me know.

All in all a very smooth procedure and I was more nervous then was necessary about this. I will report back when I get my first extension based on STV visa at the immigration here in Bangkok and until then have a great weekend everybody!

I was thinking about applying for a STV as well, but with all the requested documents it makes me doubt whether I would get it done in time. I will fly on the 30th of december and would love to stay 6 months (or longer). Now I applied for a 60 day tourist visa that I hope to extend with 30 days. After that I don't know what i can arrange to stay, I'll have to figure out whilst there. Maybe an education visa, would love to study Thai again.

But I'm curious, how did you arrange all the requested documents in time? In the Netherlands it already takes at least 4 weeks to gain your certificate of conduct. Secondly I already arranged a travel insurance including full covid coverage, but for the STV visa I read that you must obtain a Thai health insurance... Overall it seemed quite a hassle to me. Did you come across these things as well or were you able to arrange it all smoothly?

Thanks Benjamin, great you mention that. I remember I read that before. Which means that my 60 day tourist visa will give me time to find a suitable place to stay and study. Thanks.

Hi Anna, thanks for sharing your application process. Good to know it took you long as well. I'm afraid that I'm too late then, I leave within 11 days. It's a pity cause I believe too that the STV would make it easier for me. The Ed visa would be a nice alternative but more suitable later in the year when I surely want to stay longer. For this trip I planned to stay 6 months. I've planned the trip quite recent since the quarantine regulations changed. So therefore I've had limited time to arrange everything.🤷

The first time I Applied for the STV it took my good a month to get all documents together and I am very lucky to have many friends in Thailand that helped me out quite a bit with my apartment and my insurance. Else it would have taken much longer. It still was quite a lot of hassle and documents but once you are thru the immigration all worry falls away until the extension 😂. It was partially very nerve recking and without help I would have been very lost 😂😂. Germans do not need a certificate of conduct luckily for the STV application (or at least I didn’t need it). So when I applied for the STV a second time in the beginning of December I already had most of my documents ready and really just needed to upload them. Personally the STV fits me very well because all I really do is travel in Thailand but if you would like to stay up to 6 month and do some volunteering or learning Thai it’s really worth to then get an ED or Non O visa. Best of luck to you and safe travels.

Welcome back and enjoy your 9 months in Thailand once again.

Have you given thought to your next step following the end of this STV?

If miss corona will let me I will be moving in the middle of 2022 to another country anyway and then it will be a few years until I return to Thailand. So for now I don’t need to worry about a different visa ☺️.
