What is the process for obtaining a Freelancer DTV visa to Thailand from Indonesia?

I would like to share my experience.

Embassy: Jakarta, Indonesia

Passport: German

DTV Visa type: Freelancer / Sole proprietor

Application submitted on June 10

Company documents:

- Cover letter in English

- Company registration in German

- Company registration in English (officially certified translated into English)

- Tax assessment from 2023 (German)

- Sales surplus calculator from the calendar year 2024 and 2025 from my tax advisor (in original language German)

- Professional short portfolio and backside of my business card with QR code to my Linktr.ee page (Link to the company website, business contacts, link to the Instagram page and link to the Facebook page)

Evidence of financial reserves:

- Cover letter explaining my finances

- Bank statement of my savings account (3 1/2 months old approx. €14,000) (all in German)

- Bank statement of my business account and my personal account (only as an overview - all in German)

Proof of location and more:

- Cover letter in English

- Registration certificate of permanent residence in Germany (original German from 02.06.2025)

- Registration certificate of permanent residence in Germany (officially certified translated into English)

- German identity card front- & backside and International Passport

- Proof of Visa stamp Indonesia (E-VISA)

- Proof of current residence in Indonesia (room booking)

- Flight booking from Indonesia to Thailand (in German)

- Proof of residence in Thailand (rental agreement for an apartment in Bangkok, rented by long-term Thai-Partner) (in Thai)

- Proof of current international health insurance (English)

Request for documents on June 19 4:35 pm

1. Picture

- New passport photo without glasses (taken in front of the hotel and edited in Canva)

2. Proof of regular income, proof of customer contracts and invoices

- Cover letter for explanation

- Bank statement for the last 6 months from the company account (in English)

- Three customer contracts (in German)

- The last 6 invoices (in German)

Submitted on June 19 at 6:30 pm

June 20 - Visa status changed at (around) 10:30am to "Pending Approval”

June 20 - Email with visa approval received at 4:30 PM, including PDF e-visa

Processing with inquiries 10 days

Note: I already had visas for Thailand starting in October 2023

- 2x 60-day e-visas in 2024

- Approximately 6-7 entries as a tourist 30 days

- ED visa from April 2024 to March 2025

I have a flight to Bangkok tomorrow at 6:00 AM from Jakarta - it was tight, but I'm very happy now. 😊

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.
