Is health insurance required for the DTV visa application in Thailand?

About insurance:

I’m seeing some sources mentioning insurance is required for the DTV application.

Do I need to show proof of insurance purchased in my application? 
It’s not asked for in the system though ( if I’m correct) …. is it commonly requested when they ask for additional documents? 
So better to have insurance ready just in case? But the problem is the date of arrival / starting the coverage is not confirmed, isn’t it?

Also, how long of a coverage duration are you getting? 
Is standard travel insurance with hospitalisation coverage sufficient?

Some ask for it, some don't. I thinnk it's worth having an insurance document to show in the application though, just in case. Can be bloody expensive though.

Thanks for your reply. I will definitely be getting insurance. However, since I don't know how long the visa approval process will take, I was planning to purchase the insurance after my arrival date is confirmed, rather than buying it before the visa is even approved just to show proof of insurance to the embassy.

Not required for the visa application. Still, I wouldn't set foot outside my home without a good insurance.
