Edited: If you have seasoned the 800000 bhat for 2 months (for retirement non-o extension) has anyone been denied their extension based specifically on the bhat needing to be seasoned 3 months instead of 2 months?
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around the seasoning period for the 800,000 baht requirement for extending a Non-O visa in Thailand. Some users report that while a 2-month seasoning may be acceptable initially, various immigration offices have their own rules regarding extensions. Many have experienced inconsistencies, with some offices demanding a full 3 months for subsequent renewals and others allowing 2 months. The conversation points to the importance of confirming specific requirements with local immigration offices, as practices can vary significantly.

there are rogue Thai Immigrations who ask for a three-months seasoning, because they want a cut of tea money you have to pay for an agent in order to get around this rogue requirement. Show them your middle finger and apply for the 1-year extension somewhere else. In Pattaya, there is no such requirement. Check into a hotel, get their TM30 and apply

Last year in Koh Samui my renewal was refused with the saying I needed to keep 800,000 all year, no temporary dip allowed. I referred to the statute but that just made them angry. I had to pay extra to get it done in a different office.

For the first application it's just 2 months, some Immigration offices require 3 months for renewals and others it's just the same 2 months but from what I understand all of them just need 2 months for the first application. As you will only have 90 days from arrival on a O-visa it's not possible to setup a bank account and transfer the funds and have the money in the bank for 3 months hence just 2 months for initial application for an extension of stay.

Malcolm Whitlock yeah I went over the requirements for the non O spousal visa and one of the moderators on here almost had a stroke when I told him its 3 months seasoning for the the subsequent renewal in chaingmai. The initial spousal is 2 months and everytime after that is 3 months from what my wife was told by the immigration chief on the 2nd floor in Chiangmai. Half the people on here almost lost there sh*** because of it stating, that's not the official police rule. Lol every officer makes there own rules. So take what you hear from "some" of the mod in here especially the "younger" ones with a grain of salt

Andy Johnson The first advice always given is go to your Immigration Office and get THEIR list of requirements for the extension you require. General requirements are often given with this caveat.

How could you get the money 3 months on a Thai account when you only have 3 months e-visa? 2 months is possible, 3 never.

My immigration office allows 2 months seasoning for the first extension of stay but want 3 months seasoning for 2nd and subsequent extensions. I've never fully met the 3 months and always been given the extension, but I've also always had the money 3 months before my extension expires as I like to go early

Jomtien requires seasoning for a Non-O Visa (maybe 90 days), all Immigration Offices requires 2 month seasoning for the 12 month extension

Applying for the non-O visa where? Embassies decide how long the money must be present for if applying at an embassy.

If applying at an immigration office, each office can set their own requirements. I believe Jomtien requires 3 months seasoning to apply to convert from tourist to non-O visa.

I concur with your advice on this visa. I always tell people to check with there local immigration office to make sure and have it in writing to help assist when doing the paperwork.

Also on a side note:

Who is Greg Alexander?? 😂😂😂

Im starting to think people on here make "other " profiles to attack comments on here. Would you agree?? 🤔 🤫
