Hi! My son is currently on a 60-day tourist visa that will expire on June 28th. He can only fly back to Canada on July 1st. How soon before current visa's end date can we apply for an Extension of Stay? Any special requirements to submit? Thanks for the help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can apply for the 30-day extension of stay at most immigration offices when you have 30 days or less remaining on your visa. Since your son's 60-day tourist visa expires on June 28th and he plans to fly out on July 1st, you should apply for the extension now. For those in Bangkok, the main immigration office is located at the government complex on Chaengwattana Road. Additionally, local copy shops can assist with necessary copies and filling out forms.

Can do now

at most offices you can apply for the regular 30 day extension when you have 30 days or less left on your entry stamp.

If he's in Bangkok on a 60 day tourist visa stamp he goes to the main immigration office out at the government complex Building B, on Chaengwattana road

There are copy shops in the basement where he can get copies, a photo if he needs it and they'll even fill out the form for a small fee
