Hi, I am British and just returned to the UK from Thailand last week due to family commitments.

I hold a work permit valid until November 2020 but was on the amnesty as my 3 month non B expired in June. I know I can apply to enter as long as I make all the requirements for a new Non B but my question is how close to the work permit expiring do I need to apply? I would like to return in October if I am accepted.

I have been told 3 months before expiry date is this correct?

Many thanks for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a British national returning to the UK from Thailand, queries about when to apply for a new Non-B visa after their previous visa expired in June while on a work permit valid until November 2020. They seek clarity on whether they must apply three months prior to the work permit's expiration to be able to return in October.

You must obtain permission to enter from the UK Thai Embassy ... And only can fly to Bangkok on a repatriation flight from the UK.

FYI..there are over 3,300 Thais waiting for a repatriation flight from London. Apply early as it may be several months to get on a repatriation flight.

Here is link to complete requirements for it.

There are still no commercial flights for you to go when ever you want.

you have to contact the Thai Embassy in London and discuss the options with them

You stopped working in Jun, so the Work Permit and if you had an Extension of Stay should be cancelled on that day.

But if you plan to go back Thailand and start working with the same company, i would say you have until the date the work permit is valid and you need all meet all other requirements and get a Certificate of Entry. Procedure is on the website of the Thai Embassy in London
