TLDR : Answer Summary
The OA visa is a multiple-entry visa valid for one year, and as such, a re-entry permit is not required for the first year. However, if you extend your stay after the original OA visa period, you will need to purchase re-entry permits for travel outside Thailand. These can be bought as single or multiple permits, with multiple re-entry permits being a more economical choice if you plan to leave and return more than three times.

If you extend your original OA visa inside Thailand, or are on the one year stamp inside Thailand after your original multi-entry date expired, then you can get as many re-entry permits as you like, but getting the multi-entry re-entry permit is a better deal if you are leaving and coming back more than three times, at bt3800, as opposed to the single re-entry permit at bt1000

okay did you purchase this 1 year in your home country and given 1 year OR

Were you given 90 days then extended for 1 year after, because that would be a non-o visa and 1 year extension of stay.

And you would have to purchase reentry permits single or multi.

Or you could just post a picture of the visa information.

Blackout stuff if you are uncomfortable.

The OA is multi-entry!

@Steve ******
not if it was extended inside Thailand after the original validity date expired. Then a re-entry permit is needed if you leave.
Steve *******
@Kool ******
Then it's not an OA visa. The visa has already expired
Kool *******
@Steve ******
technically it is an extension of the original visa, as you can extend an OA visa inside Thailand, and it has the same health insurance requirement, and the financial requirement. It is still an OA visa extension.

@Kool ******
You've been in the group long enough to know this.

@Steve ******
show me in the OPs post where he says anything about a visa. If you are going to criticize then why didn't you correct the OP, as technically OA means nothing. Don't be hypocritical.
Steve *******
@Kool ******
I'm not criticising but we all know how important correct terminology is when it comes to visas/extentions and my comment was correcting the OP.

@Steve ******
grow up. What do you want, me to just leave the group and quit helping people? The correct term is OA visa, not OA. If you are going to be so critical then at least be absolutely accurate.

@Kool ******
He clearly states OA in his post!

@Kool ******
Technically it's an extention of stay, not an extention of the visa. The visa is expired one year from it's issue date.
Chris *******
The first year of OA is multi-entry.

If you are in the 2nd year of the OA or on an extension of the OA; you can purchase re entry permits single or multi.

Is it possible you have this visa question wrong?

@Chris ******
it's the one year retirement visa

there are many different types of retirement visa. Look in your passport and tell us what it says, that's the only way to get an accurate answer

No such thing as a single entry OA. It's valid for 12 months, multiple entry. No re-entry permit required

Not quite sure what you mean. A non OA is a multiple entry visa. Valid for a year and on each entry you get stamped in for 365 days or as long as your insurance is valid for.
