TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend a retirement visa in Thailand, you can apply during the last 45 days of your stay. However, it's advisable to go a few days earlier to avoid potential overstays due to missing documents on the last day. The extension will be added to your current stay duration, ensuring that you don't lose any days.

, you can't go when ever you want to, most offices allow you to apply for a new extension when you have 30 days or less left on your stamp but some allow you to do it when you have 45 days or less left on it. You can't do it before what ever the rule at that office is.

You can apply during the last 45 days of your stay.

But be aware that if you go on the last day and do not have all the documents and have to come back the next day, you are in overstay. Better is to go a few days early as the 1 year Extension of Stay is added to your current stay and you do not "Loose" days by going early.
