What's the latest on the Thai Consulate in KL giving non-o visas for volunteers (with 1yr work permits and letter of recommendation from foundation)? Do they do multiple entry non-o's there? Or just 90day single entry non-o?

TLDR : Answer Summary
As of the latest information, the Thai Consulate in Kuala Lumpur only issues single entry 90-day Non-O visas for volunteers. To obtain a one-year work permit, you can apply for an extension at a local immigration office once you return to Thailand. Make sure to meet the necessary requirements as outlined in the consulate's guidelines.
90 DAY REPORTING RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Use the trusted Thailand 90 Day Reporting Service to get your in-person report done and mailed to you for as low as 375 THB (even if the online system doesn't work for you).
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.

Single entry 90 Day Non-O visas only. You apply for a year extension at the immigration office in your area once you come back.

I'd say meet the requirements on this hand out from the thai consulate in KL and you should be fine.
