Hi there well eventually made it to Bangkok and just had my overnight stay in hotel but still waiting on COVID result. Can anyone tell me how long it takes. They said it would be 8am but it's now 10.15am.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the delay in receiving COVID test results after arriving in Bangkok. While the hotel mentioned results would be available by 8 AM, by 10:15 AM, they had not yet received them. Comments included personal experiences of test result times, with some users reporting results received later in the day. There were discussions about the testing process, efficiency in different countries, and implications of potentially testing positive while traveling in Thailand.

You're probably positive and they are preparing your deportation. Tie sheets together and try to escape.

used to do two tests a week in Singapore results used to come through automatically anywhere between 3 and 12 hours.

It also depends on lab, i guess the cheaper the package you pay the cheaper the hospital it works with and maybe lab facilities not so organised

I still received mine in 1.5 hours…I’m not sure why anyone has a problem with the efficiency in other countries

it is what it is, look at Bangkok traffic could take an hour and a half to get from Hotel to Lab. If its a cheaper package do they wait till got few tests till sending to lab.

hotels dont have labs on site. Where did you get your test done ? One test is not much of a benchmark though. I had two tests a week in Singapore over 9 month period and thats an organised country as we know Thailand is not.

it’s the real world with qualified technicians that do these tests for a living….just because you’ve been stuck in Thailand doesn’t mean the rest of the world has not moved forward with efficiency

I am in Sweden and a professional biochemist....there are plenty of waiting steps in the procedure. On Wednesday I take my own for my return to Thailand. That is guaranted within 20 hours. But as you say, the instruments get more sensitive and the procedures slicker with time. But my own laboratories had plenty of RT-PCR instruments for scientific use.

Taxi ride inflated test charge for waiting for the results .you don't think they will do it for nothing ? It is Thailand even in the north where I live they try it on.plus as I said the test can be rigged with a drop of coke .

unfortunately if you have been in contact but not positive you still have to go through the same itenery and insurance companies have not been paying out for this look at you policy and read the articles .it only covers you for positive results not contact . insurance companies cover themselves and just because you have insurance will not help you in this case .unless you have stated it and paid extra for it.

One of the lucky ones I had family come over ended up going back home only came for 3 weeks they were told because my daughter was positive witch by the way was a wrong result as she is a nurse in the UK and was tested each week and when they got back so that why I am very sceptical about letting a test be done you have no control over .plus there are many more stories of the same on the media platforms like I said well done you were lucky many others have not been .enjoy your trip .

according to the official numbers 99.92% of the arrivals in Test and Go test negative. This does not fit with your statement of "many others". Bad luck for your daughter though.

And when did you arrive at the hotel?

Was the test taken at a hospital enroute to the hotel or at the hotel ?

Elaine Avril My plane arrived at midnight. I was tested at 1 am. First they told me my result would come back around 10 am. the next day. I called the front office at 10:30. They said there's a delay. My result should be available around 5 pm. Well, at 1 pm. I got a call said that I was free to go. Result came back negative.
