Can I Get a Digital Nomad Visa Approved with 8 Weeks of Bank Statements?

Apr 16, 2026
Hi everyone 😊

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with getting a DTV approved using only around 8 weeks of bank statements?

We’ve recently sold our house, so we do have more than the required funds available, but they’re not all shown across a long statement history.

Has anyone been approved in a similar situation, or did they ask for more documentation?

Would really appreciate any insight or experiences, thank you so much in advance! 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is seeking advice on whether it is possible to obtain a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) using only about 8 weeks of bank statements, as they have recently sold their house and have the required funds but lack a long statement history. Responses indicate that approval may depend on the specific Royal Thai Consulate's regulations, with varying requirements across locations. Some users mention that certain consulates may be more lenient while others require a seasoning period for the funds. Overall, experiences shared suggest that documentation requirements can greatly differ, emphasizing the importance of checking with the respective consulate.

Anonymous participant I am not exactly sure about their "seasoning" requirement - but others have answered that already. In general, London is rather "difficult" and slow - while wrongfully requireing you to remain within their juristiction until they issued the visa. You did not mention if you want to go the soft power or remote working route. For the latter, London is nutorious for asking things beyond the underlying requirements by law: like payslips and text returns and such things.

It nowadays seems to highly depend on what exact Royal Thai Consulate is in your juristiction where you are applying at. The law is clear and only asks for 500k THB equivalent at the time of application. Sadly, several consulates make up their own rules and require seasoning of said 500k. While some require 3-6 months bank statements but not enforce seasoning (as long as the final balance is ok). Tell us your options where to apply for the DTV. Two years back at the RTE in Berlin a single bank statement with everything redacted except the account holders name and the toal sufficed.

There is no law that created the DTV, it was created through a Ministerial Decree. If you read what was actually published in the Royal Gazette (

it does allow the MFA and the Immigration Bureau to determine what they consider to be acceptable financial proof. They could turn around tomorrow and say that you must have 1m baht in the bank for a year and that is allowed by the Decree. Even if you read the requirements for the DTV on the official eVisa website (

Even if you read the requirements for the DTV on the official eVisa website (https://thaievisa.go.th/visa/dtv-visa), it makes explicit reference to requiring 3 months worth of bank statements.

UnforgettableRambutan8343 I appreciate that you at least linked the respective legal text pertaining to the DTV. Much more advanced than most other usual respondents! 👍 Said legal text, and that is what it is, mentions particularly a 500k THB saving requirement. It does however not specify any holding / seasoning period (or any regular financial income and what not some embassies came up for that matter). What you are right about, however is, that any additional "Ministerial Decree" CAN further specify requirements. Said decree would have to be made public as well. I am not aware of any. Can you link it? As for the other link you shared, it does mention 3 months of bank statements, but it does not demand the 500k being the minimum sum in all of them. Also, some information posted on any website does not supersede published legal texts in the Royal Gazette. Having said all that, I am in favor of potentially more strict requirements for the DTV. I am just not a big fan of the "Thai way" of individual offices or officers of the very same organization applying vasty different individual requirements.

Personally I have not, but I have read here and heard from Agents as well that places like the Philippines only require you to hold the balance one month or just have it in the account at the time you apply
