Hello, I will be going to Vientiane next month to make ED visa for Thai language school. Do you know how long does the process takes once you make the request at the consulate ? Is it like 24h?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process for applying for an ED visa at the consulate in Vientiane typically allows for application submission in the morning and pick-up on the next working day in the afternoon.
Robert *******
Apply day one in the morning, pick up next working day in the afternoon.
If someone wrongly makes an assumption, tells me what I should do by implying I’m disrespectful and directs the post at me personally...maybe you should just mind your own business...Robert and I can sort out our own points...as you are just trolling
that you are taking it personally for no reason. You offered valid advice as did Robert. There was no need for the backlash you then gave.

Sarah Jane Waddicor lol, so...your point is?
Of course if you are replying to a particular person it tags them...that’s the intent!!!
Otherwise you reply to the original thread, not a specific individual.

Glen Shkolar ever notice if you hit reply it automatically tags ... Just saying

Sarah Jane Waddicor sorry you are perfectly wrong, by the fact he stated “Glen Shkolar...”, clearly shows the comments were aimed at me.
The fact that he stated “... Please dress respect and dress accordingly...” was a wrong assumption that is wasn’t doing as such...as I never said I didn’t.
he never assumed this. He made a point that culture here and in Western countries is different. The British offices don't have a dress code but you use common sense to dress accordingly but back home they are selling visas and dress code isn't really something we look at. In SEA it is. It's the different religious beliefs.
never said anything aimed at you he stated a fact. Maybe you need to get off your high horse. This group is to help people not jump down people's necks.

Robert Lagas and again you assumed because I merely pointed out the relaxed culture of the Thai Embassy in Australia that I dressed the same way - I’ve always been more than appropriate and you are wrong to make any assumptions otherwise!
And regardless of how you dress...not even Parliament House in Australia has clothing restrictions for the public...other than offensive material (images, words etc)...people do wear shorts, singlets and flip flops. And this is the norm in Australia. No one takes offence. It may be disrespectful to you, but it’s accepted Australia wide and is no disrespect to anyone. Hence probably why the Thai Embassy has not enforced any clothing restrictions locally there.
The only times where someone in Australia would expect a higher level of standard, is a wedding, funeral, job interview, some jobs, and black tie events...and if attending court it would be advisable but not required!

Sorry if you took it personall, not meant to be like that. Maybe n a high horse, but i grew up with the lessons you choose you clothing to where you go. I don't wear a tuxedo, to relax on the beach or a tank top to visit an official building.

Robert Lagas get off your high horse...in Australia it’s a very relaxed country unlike a lot of SEA countries, and the Embassy staff their have adopted the Australian way of life very readily...and don’t assume by that fact, that I dress inappropriately or otherwise - I have never been asked to change my clothing by any Embassy or Consulate anywhere in the world in more than 20 years of travel!
It is a shame that Government Buildings must make clothing restrictions. Please respect and dress accordingly where you go.

Ambre Pablo Thai Embassy in Australia has no such clothing restrictions...so it was a surprise to me when I arrived in Thailand and traveled around SEA.
oh I see, that seems obvious for me not to go immigration in short and tank top but not for every one apparently.. Anyway thanks for all the info

And make sure you collect your new visa the day it’s due - or they WILL cancel your new visa and you will have to go through the entire process again. They will give you a slip on the day stating this - but still people ignore it and get caught out...
Ohh and Vientiane is also strict on clothing, and will refuse to take your application...cover your shoulder and upper arms and legs to the knee at least and no showing too much cleavage
When I was there a month ago several people had to get changed before they would accept their application, and one person collected his new visa a day late and discovered it had been cancelled as warned...
I recommend going Tuesday or Friday...seem the less busy days...when I arrived at 8am only 10 people in line
