Hello lovely people, I know this has probably been asked a thousand times and I did try to use the search function with no help.

My question is this, could someone please explain to me, in detail, the process and duration of getting an ED visa once I have found an approved school. Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain an ED visa in Thailand, once you find an approved school, the school will prepare all necessary documents for you. You will need to apply at the relevant consulate in the morning with the school's paperwork and generally can pick up your visa the next afternoon. After enrolling and paying tuition, you will receive paperwork from your school and the Ministry of Education to go out of the country and get a 90-day single-entry Non-Immigrant Type ED visa. Upon entering Thailand, you'll be stamped in for 90 days. Before this period ends, your school will provide you with documentation to apply for a visa extension at the immigration office, which can be granted for an additional 60 to 90 days, allowing you to repeat this process throughout the school year.

When you come into thailand you'll be stamped in for 90 days and then when that's almost finished you'll get paperwork from the school to go to the immigration office and apply for an extension. Students from most private schools get extensions anywhere from 60 to 90 days. You do this for the whole year.

Ahhhh I see. So every 60-90 days, depending, I have to go back and get another extension. I'm guessing I have to pay 1900 baht every time too right? Cheeky

Thanks for the help

The school will prepar all the documents and will tell you which consulate you have to go. You apply there in the morning with all the documents from school and pick it up next afternoon.
