TLDR : Answer Summary
Opening a bank account with SCB usually takes about 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on your visa type and the specific bank branch. Many expats report satisfying experiences, with some managing to complete the process in about 30 minutes. Necessary documents typically include a passport, a driver's license, and, depending on the branch's requirements, possibly a rental agreement instead of a residence certificate.

The answer from others won't apply to you without knowing your visa, and varies by branch or even bank officer that you encounter. With the right visa, you can be in and out with a new account in 30 minutes.

Yes, I opened one in September after the Bangkok bank fiasco. Went in with three items and 30 minutes later I had a new account with them.

Did the wife's the following day, same 30 minutes.

All good took a couple of hours. I think as you don’t get a MacBook it is electronic.

I use it for my everyday business and I have another account that I don’t touch to cover my Visa requirements
