I’d like to know whether it’s possible to open a bank account in Thailand with a DTV Muay Thai visa.
Thank you in advance for your answers. Have a great evening!
Summary so far
The possibility of opening a bank account in Thailand with a DTV Muay Thai visa is highly limited. Several comments indicate that most banks do not permit this type of visa to open an account. Only Non-O and Non-B (Working) visas are typically accepted for account creation. Some users mentioned a possibility at certain Krungthai branches, but this seems rare and uncertain. It's important for expats to explore alternative banking methods or services to avoid fees associated with transferring money.

peoole want one so they can get money from their American bank to a local bank and not pay atm fees. That part is not rocket science to know why someone would want a local bank to transfer money to
chooserich007 How do you know that's 'highly likely'? Why not make some effort to be helpful in suggesting alternative ways to receive and make payments in Thailand?
chooserich007 To use your own words; It's not myself who's stating; 'one of the branches' and 'highly likely it will be closed eventually'. As you are keen to point out, whoever is making the claim needs to be able to justify their comments. You state 'one of the branches' but neglect to say of which bank. Surely, you wouldn't wish to send anyone on a fool's errand of all banks and all branches? You also need to confirm what you mean by 'closed eventually'. Do you refer to several months or years?
revolout, i can take £800 out at a time, for £5 fee, wise no charge on transcations... you'll lose maybe 1% in total which you'd lose transfering anyway. There's loads of accounts that even give you back atm fees.
yes you get a card, its an official bank now too they're great Wise atm is much lower and they're changing the rules there soon.. but there's no cost to use wise in malls etc
