I'm looking to bring my partners niece to England for a holiday.

Roughly how long does the process take?

I know that might be like asking 'how long is a piece of string' but maybe someone who has gone through the process could give me a rough idea?

And what is the starting point?

The UK or Thai Embassy?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process for obtaining a UK visa for your partner's niece can be complex and varies in duration. It is generally advised to start the application through VFS Global, as the Thai embassy does not handle UK visas directly. Key considerations include the niece's age, her ties to Thailand, and providing adequate proof of her intention to return. Thorough documentation and sponsorship details are crucial, especially if the niece does not have a strong reason to return to Thailand which may affect her visa approval.

In fairness its probably better you stay out of it completely, it can be a mountain my Partner, Thai Government Teacher, sole carer for elderly parents, house 6 x farms a 10 year old son, north of 1 million bhat in the bank should really have applied without my support, sponsor letter proof of my funds etc strong reasons to return to Thailand but refused as they did not believe the relationship. Advised to re submit sent in around 200 photos relationship work on house vacations screen shots of what's app conversations etc and it was granted. I fear that if your niece has no provable way to show she will return to Thailand then you may well struggle. Whilst I don't necessarily say it will be the case UK immigration may possibly read between lines and draw inappropriate wrong conclusions. If your niece could apply for a tourist visa just in her name without your sponsorship I feel she stands a far better chance.

Thanks for that.

'If you’re applying for a UK visa from Thailand, your first stop will not be the British Embassy in Bangkok. You must first connect with VFS UK Thailand, a private company that partners with the UK government to process visa applicants and biometric data. They operate a visa application center in Bangkok that accepts all visa applications, regardless of the category they fall under'.

I never knew that and by the look of it others didn't either.😀

Much appreciated.

There's always one smart arse like yourself.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I had never heard of VFS until mentioned by Phil Cefiro.

But now I know, guess what?

I have googled VFS and am now on the right track thanks to him.

Many thanks for your invaluable input.

The Thai embassy doesn't handle UK visas.

And she is 8 years old or 18 ? If she’s in Thailand the process starts there

Look at other FB pages related to visas. Overall majority say it may be close to impossible especially for a young girl. Unless you are willing to to do a lot of paperwork and sponsor her financially. Chook dii
