Most countries have a service provider like VFS handle the application. So as long as she can get a letter from her employer, has a return flight ticket and a rough trip schedule, she’s good to apply. Some countries like Italy seem to be a bit easier, though, others like Germany more difficult - I’ve heard.

The German Embassy in Bangkok does not handle Schengen Visa applications, they only grant the visa. The application itself must be done on appointment at the office of the agency VFS Global in Bangkok. The website of the German Embassy in Bangkok is listing the requirements of BOTH Schengen Visa - either the Schengen Visitor Visa, or the Schengen Tourist Visa. Sorry, but I don't mix them up. The German embassy also wanna see strong ties to Thailand for a tourist visa, not only for a visitor visa. A tourist visa is not a guarantee for the embassy that the "tourist" will return.

Fox PB Sorry, but you are mixing up the requirements for the Schengen Tourist Visa with the requirements of the Schengen Visitor Visa. Both come with very different requirements. The proof of strong intentions to return normally is NOT asked for if she applies for the Schengen Tourist Visa. This is rather a requirement for the Schengen Visitor Visa. Which additionally requires a "Verpflichtungserklärung" (an official document by the Foreign Affairs Office in Germany in which the inviting person is giving a guarantee and must supply a security in the form of a money deposit or income verification)

Peter Benjamin Parker You are completely WRONG, you do not go to the embassy, this was possible once but that was a LONG time ago. Nowadays, you are NOT allowed to enter the embassy, unless you have an appointment for another reason but for a Schengen Visa! They even will NOT let you to ask anything on the phone, they will tell you that everything you need to know is on their website, and that only VFS Global in Bangkok is handling the application process. You MUST use VFS Global for the application process, and they need an appointment or you pay extra for express service. The embassy will REFUSE servicing you.

Adam Ffs You can fly and enter Germany first with a Schengen visa issued by, for example, the French Embassy in Bangkok, or any other Schengen Area embassy.
A Schengen visa is valid throughout the entire Schengen Area, not just in the issuing country.
