Hello everyone I can’t find the answer so sorry if it has already been answered. My question is : how long do I have to leave the country to Thailand when I get my DTV? Can I ask it now and leave in 3 months for example? Thank you 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
Once you receive your DTV (Digital Nomad Visa), you have five years to enter Thailand. The visa allows for unlimited entry and exit, with a maximum stay of 180 days per entry. If you stay less than 180 days and exit, you can restart the 1-year validity after re-entering. Extensions for another 180 days can be requested for a fee. The application for the DTV visa should typically not be made more than 2-3 months before the intended entry date.
Depends on the embassy that you are applying via, but most say you shouldn’t apply more than 2-3 months in advance. That being said, besides saying when you will go, the embassy nor immigration will know when you actually go and if you end up going later, that is fine. However, if on the application you said you are not going for 6 months, they might not review it any time soon
I am from France. Because I m quitting my job in 3 months so I wanted to know if I could get my DTV next month and wait until January to leave. So you re saying there is nothing that says I can’t do this? :)

Anonymous participant - you should discuss with the embassy. They can tell you. What type of DTV will you apply for?

✅ A visa to stay in Thailand for 180 days, with unlimited entry and exit, is valid for 5 years. If you stay less than 180 days and then exit and re-enter, the visa is valid for 1 year. If you stay for the full period, you can renew it. Once you have completed the period, you must exit and re-enter, and continue the same cycle for up to 5 years.
For example, if A stays in Thailand for 179 days, leaves Thailand for 1 day, and returns to Thailand again, the count will start from 1 again. This can be done for 5 years.
In case B, if you have been in Thailand for 180 days and do not leave, you can request to stay for another 180 days (the fee for each extension is 1900 baht). When the 360 days have passed, you must leave Thailand and re-enter, counting from 1 again, and request to stay for another 180 days. You can do this for 5 years.
