ORIGINAL POSTER
My 1 year visa extension renewal is September 9. I need to get a letter from the bank and they said it takes 2 days. How long do I have after I receive the letter back from the bank to go to the immigration office? Is there anything else I need to do before I renew my 1 year extension? Do I need to deposit money into my account the day I go to immigration?

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
You need to receive your bank letter before your visa extension renewal on September 9. It takes about 2 days to get the letter, and you should go to immigration as soon as you have it. There's no specific time limit mentioned after receiving the letter, but it's advisable to act promptly. You don't need to deposit money into your account on the same day you visit immigration, but ensure that the necessary funds have been in your account for at least 3 months.

They write your letter while you are waiting in the bank. Cost 100 Baht. No need to put money into your account that day, but the money must have been in your account for at least 3 months.

You DO need to update your bank book so that it shows the balance the day you apply AND some banks won't do a balance on a bank book unless there's a transactions, that's why people put money in or take money out the day of the extension, so when they update the bank book it shows the current date

will an immigration office accept a letter from Bangkok Bank showing monthly deposits of at least $65k and a balance of at least $400k from months 7-12??? This is for renewing my one year visa. They're telling me I need to get a letter from the US Embassy in Bangkok but I know the embassy will not generate any statement about my monthly pension, etc. Any suggestions??? Thank you.

you need a FULL year of print outs showing that you transferred in a minimum of 65K baht a month, each month, every month for the previous 12 months before you apply for your extension.

that is what I thought. They are telling my thai gf on the phone that I need a letter from US Embassy or put $800k again for 2 months before I apply for my renewal. How can I convince them about doing it the way you're describing???

the real question is why is your g/f talking to them and not you, those immigration offices speak english well enough to do their job.

AND

There are indeed some offices that just won't let you use monthly income for retirement extensions, they will just put up road blocks by asking for documents you can't produce until you use the banked money method

good questions. I asked her to call for me because I have a bad hearing loss and speaking on the phone is really hard for me. I think the immigration office I go to is doing what you said (road blocks, etc,). I will drive to the office myself and speak with them in person and see if I can resolve this. I do know I am NOT putting in $800k again. Thank you ๐Ÿ™

ok so you used the 800K baht the first time you got the extension (which meant you needed to have the 800k in the bank for 2 months before you applied, then it needed to stay IN the bank for 3 months after you got the extension issued and after that the balance couldn't have gone below 400k baht the rest of the year

AND

during all that you needed to be transferring in to the country from abroad a minimum of 65K baht a month, each month, every month for the previous 12 months before you apply for the next yearly extension

Bangkok Bank , Krings Thai Bank and Thai Military Bank all do it without any transactions.

It's the Immigration Office that might need the bank book updated on the day of the application to show that the balance still meets the requirements
