TLDR : Answer Summary
You can apply for a 60-day tourist visa for Thailand up to 3 months prior to your travel. The visa will be valid for 90 days from the date of issue, which is the maximum duration allowed for applying ahead.

It’ll be valid for 90 days, so I guess that’s the limit
Recently applied for (in the UK) and obtained a 60 day TR for a new trip Stuart. Came back in about 4 days. Surprising how doing it for a 2nd time seemed a walk in the park. Experience is everything. Seems better than faffing around for an extension after entering visa exempt, and a few pound cheaper I think.
I applied for one last month for travel on 30th of November but when it came back it had to be used by September so I assume I applied to soon. So what I’m asking is when is the earliest you can apply
90 days and that would be pushing it in case of needing to change flights or something. Apply 2 or 3 weeks before travel and you’ll be good.

I understand that but what’s the maximum amount of time prior to travel not after the visa been granted. I applied for one in July to travel on the 30th of November but when it came back it need to be used by the 22nd of September even though they had my dates of travel
not sure what part you’re not understanding. When you apply for a visa it will be valid for 90 days from issue - which is generally 3-5 days after submitting the application. Makes no difference from when you say you want to travel. Therefore the maximum time you could apply prior is 90 days.
