I have a Non OA Visa Multi Entry retirement one year valid until 19th November 2025. Went to Laos for 2 days and come back in via the bus terminal Noung Khai. At immigration sent me to office to supervisor who would only stamp passport to 29th Dec 2025, I thought with multi entry I would get 12 months from date come back into thailand 11th Aug is that correct. Thankyou for any info.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the stamping duration upon re-entering Thailand on a Non OA Visa after a short trip to Laos. They expected a full 12-month stamp but received only until December 29, 2025. The community discussed the implications of insurance coverage, noting that the stamping duration is often tied to the validity of the mandatory insurance policy associated with the visa. Recommendations included renewing insurance annually and performing a border run if wanting to extend their stay.

Why do you assume that by doing a border run your visa would be renewed for an additionnal year?

As Mike Kusono kindly pointed out that is the case as long as you have the correct medical insurance to cover the period.

I was thinking about doing that, but I live here with no plan to leave for any reason, so it didn’t make sense for me to leave and come back and pay all the money involved with a trip and spend the time when I had the 800,000 baht in the bank already and I was going to renew my insurance anyway, too. So I just went to immigration and paid the 1900 baht fee and did an extension. Easy peasy. 🤷🏼‍♂️

yes that's why you only got stamped in until then. If you get another year of insurance and then do another border bounce before your visa expires in November, you should be able to get the additional year.

Most certainly it is because of insurance. Renew your yearly insurance policy in November and exit/re-enter before Nov. 19. You will be stamped in until the expiration date of the new policy

Obviously questioning whether the OP's insurance, or lack of it, could be the problem.

My guess is, he doesn't have a clue about the O-A and how it works.

No when non oa visa expires you have to apply once again for another 12 month oa visa

an entry just before visa expiration will get another year stamp if you have qualifying insurance good for another year, otherwise only stamped in till the date of insurance expiration.

really? Are you stating that he does not need to apply for another 12 month extension of stay to start again November 20, 2025?

It is my understanding that he will get stamped in up to his current visa extension date subject to have the required insurance through that period.

Multi-entry simply means one can exit and enter multiple times during the extension period without purchasing separate exit stamps each time. TM-47 reporting is reset to 90 days at each reentry.

he's not on a 12 month extension so he cannot apply for "another" one. He's on a 1-year multiple entry visa that gives a 1 year stamp each time you enter until the visa expires.

A Non OA is good for up to 2 years. Enter just before it expires and as long as you have valid insurance you’ll be stamped in for another year. This second year is not multiple entry. To leave and return you’d need to buy re-entry permits.

Did you have a brand new year of insurance to show? They will only stamp you in until the expiration date of your mandatory insurance if that is less than the 1-year you would otherwise receive.
