How does the 90-day reporting system work in Thailand for expats after a visa extension?

Some feedback.

Today doing my 90 day report (thai wife) at Pak Kret, I copped a 2000 baht fine ! I understood the 90 days would restart from the date I extended my visa. Apparently not, it is a regular 90 day cycle irrespective of the visa extension between cycles. I had completed all other 90 day reports on time.

So don't assume your visa extension date restarts the clock on your 90 day report.

TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand, the 90-day reporting requirement is separate from visa extensions. A 90-day report must be filed every 90 days, regardless of when a visa extension is granted. If a report is missed, a fine of 2000 baht is imposed. It's essential for expats to track their reporting dates based on prior receipts and to understand their local immigration office's policies, as practices may differ across the numerous offices in Thailand.

One final time people

This is how you tell IF they reset your 90 day report when you got a year extension.

Ask yourself;

Good luck, take care, stay safe (y)

If a 90 day report is NOT done, the fine is 2K THB, AND a stamp is placed in the passport that looks like the stamp below. The stamp color can be blue or red, and the color is meaningless.

I'm shutting this down. The OP is using Nonthaburi Immigration office. Whatever Nakhom Nowhere's policy is has nothing to do with Nonthaburi.

A good rule of thumb is "Extension of stay is separate than a 90 day report". IF you believe the 90 day report was re-set when a new extension of stay was acquired, ASK the "90 day report" desk/ counter/ office and get proof that a new 90 day report was submitted

I'm not going to let this become a "at my immigration office, we..." post, and requiring to ask questions for each response. Each immigration office has their own policies, and there are 70+ immigration offices in Thailand.

If a person needs specific information about their own situation, please make your own post.

Thank you.

Your previous 90-day report will have the "next report" date on it. That's what you go by. This is nothing new

A 90 day report informs immigration of your location every 90 days. It is separate from an extension of stay. If a person does not file a 90 day report, they will be fined 2K THB at the immigration office the next time they go to the office.

"I understood the 90 days would restart from the date I extended my visa".

As you have learned, 90-day reports and visa-based extension of stay do not sync-up. Of course they *should*, but sorry nope.

And you got a red stamp in your passport. Old school :)

All you have to do is check the piece of paper in your passport. The only time I am aware of that an extension counts as a 90 day report is at CW for your first extension.
