I’m going to extend my tourist visa in the next few days in Bangkok (British passport). I’ve read conflicting information on how this works. Do you just turn up and get the extension straight away, like you do when extending the visa exempt , or do they keep your passport and it takes several days to process? I understand you need to take photos and proof of you leaving Thailand within those 30 days. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
TLDR : Answer Summary
Extending a tourist visa in Bangkok typically allows you to receive an extension at the Chaengwattana Immigration Office without leaving your passport for several days. While some locations might have different procedures, the general consensus is that they stamp your passport for processing rather than holding it for an extended period. Make sure to bring necessary documents, including a TM30 address registration, photos, and proof of travel out of Thailand within the next 30 days.
