Hi, I have been going through all the posts in regards to Non O based on Thai child and looks like best option is to go to Penang in Malaysia to obtain it.

I’m married to the mother who was Thai at the time she gave birth but the Thai citizenship has since been revoked due to dual nationality. Meaning two foreigners with a Thai child. My wife easily got her via because she used to be Thai and kids. But for me it’s more complicated and the immigration officer advised me to use a visa agent to assist me due to all the documentation I have to provide, plus I’m currently on tourist visa which does not make it easier...

so all in all I think it will be easier to fly down to Penang and get the one year visa based on a Thai child once the border opens up again.

Question: is it easy to get it and how many days does it take? Should I just bring: birth certificate, marriage certificate (non Thai), bank statement showing 400K ? And how much does the visa cost?

Thank you for the help

Multiple in Penang or single in Savannakhet ! Ive done a single in Savannakhet loads of times. Birth certificate and copy, copy of house book with the registry of the child, copy of your Laos visa, copy of your photo page, photos for visa application. There is a desk opposite the consulate who check everything for you, 100 baht ! If in doubt just take originals of everything with you and they can check it.

Im going to assume the child is still a Thai citizen, and has a Thai passport. If you are wanting the Non-o visa based on supporting a Thai child, it will cost 2K THB for a single entry and 5K for a multiple entry visa.

The specific information can be found at

I’m trying to go through the required documents for this visa however I’m not able to find a post where it’s listed. And if documents from Thai court proving I’m the father etc is needed? I’m listed as the father on birth certificate.

yes - she had dual citizenship and was asked many years ago to give up one of them. It took almost 10 years to go through
