Morning all.

I have got to go to KL (from Hua Hin) to get a temporary visa in march. I intend to get a Thai wife visa later this year but the documents aren’t ready by march (my current visa expires then).

Best way would be NON-O (dependent). I have got a son who is Thai, but do not live with him now. That’s why a one year visa is not possible if apply in Thailand because you have to prove that you live with your kid.

What do you guys think about the 60 day NON O (dependent) and application done in KL. Possible? I have got copies of birth certificate and passport of my son in hands now. Anything else required?

The second way would be 60 day tourist visa, if the NON O doesn’t work.

Thanks a lot.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice about applying for a 60-day NON-O (dependent) visa in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as they prepare for a Thai wife visa later in the year. They have a Thai son but do not live with him, complicating the situation for a longer-term visa. Users in the comments suggest considering Penang for a smoother application process and mention that a tourist visa might require less documentation.

I do mine in the uk for my son, in kL pretty sure you have to show a Thai bank with funds etc?

Well, that wouldn’t be the problem.

The thing is: If I do it at an immigration within Thailand, they will check my history, means ex Thai wife and divorce documents. In the divorce agreement, it is stated that she is the only guardian for our son. That’s the k.o. criteria for a guardian visa here.

But I heard that at a Thai embassy out of Thailand, it might be possible to get such a NON O dependent visa with Thai child, 90 days or possibly even as multiple entry 1 year visa without showing these detailed information like divorce certificate and divorce contract...

I have no knowledge of your circumstances, but it seems to me that a tourist visa is the least amount of documentation and requirements.

Yea sure, but if I get married, I have to get a NON O once again, as you cannot apply for a Thai wife visa from a current tourist visa.

That‘s why I would like to obtain the NON O if possible...

If you are going to Malaysia, I suggest you look at going to Penang as an alternative to KL. I have always used Penang for my visas in the past without any hassles at all, as have many friends. I have heard that KL can be difficult sometimes. Details of requirements for various visas are listed on their website.
