How do I apply for a 30-day extension at the MTT Immigration Office in Bangkok?

We are in Bangkok and will need to get our 30 day extension to our 45 day visa exempt entry. From reading here it seems we must go to the mtt immigration office, not cw. Is that by any chance counter k? Is the best way to get there by grab taxi? We need a tm30, hopefully our hotel will help us with that, I know they are not doing any reporting to immigration. Is there a specific one that mtt requires, it seems there are multiple versions? Our hotel also does not have a printer, so we will have to find a place to print one out. I assume we can get the tm7 at the office and fill it out there. I know we can make copies there, it is true we can get the photos there as well? Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a 30-day extension at the MTT Immigration Office in Bangkok, visit Counter K. The recommended method of transport is a Grab taxi, but it may vary depending on your starting location. You will need a TM30 form; ensure your hotel assists with this even though they may not process the reporting themselves. Finding a local printing service for documentation can be helpful, as printing options may be limited at your hotel. You can obtain a TM7 form at the office and fill it out there, and there might be options for passport photos on-site, although they may be more expensive than elsewhere.

So is counter k where we want to go, but it's not where Google maps shows where it is? I've been told 3 different places so far.

there never was an "old location" :/

Thai immigrations has always been in the building I posted an image of since it moved there back in July of 2020.

This is an image from the front way in to the compound

Back in September...it was at the "OLD" location (still in Muang Thong Thani, and still within the same complex)

I have been going to MTT since they first opened it as a temporary solution to divert foot traffic from away CW. The first time I applied for the extension it was at the location at the ground floor of that car park on the right. 2 months later it was moved to the building on the left.

@Sc**
It's the building I showed in the picture

AND

that building is the image that google shows to the location I just linked to

Believe me you're NOT gonna be the only foreigner in that police compound the day you go :P

Thai immigrations is in THIS building at the Central Investigation Bureau Police Compound out at MTT

OK but from that link it shows counter k as another building to the east.

@Scot ******
and I'm telling you that it's exactly where I said it is.

How about you slog on out there and look for yourself?

@Sc**
nope it's not, but it's close enough seeing as you're in the compound.

It's really more this one

- I do not believe that's the counter k location.

@Scot ******
It is. I have been going there for the past four covid extensions since they started issuing them. ;) It is on the 3rd floor.

That is where it was when there were thousands of tourists still here in the beginning of the pandemic(bigger building). It has since moved to the smaller other building which is still in the same complex, just to the West of the original. ;)

Easiest way is BTS to Wat Phra Sri Mahathat station, then get a cab from the roundabout under the station. As far as photos go, the last time I was there about
***
months there was no facility to take photos. That may have changed, so someone else is in this group might have more up to date info. There's one place that does photocopies, there's normally a queue so do that first, and beware of the cranky lady who runs it! 🤣

Odd thing, at the Bangkok immigration website, the tm30 form link does not work.

The hotel or property owner would use one of the following three applications:

Online [best option]:

Apple:

Android

IF the system isn't working, the hotel owner should be able to e-mail the TM30 directly, and they would give a printout of the TM30 they submitted, and the e-mail and forms to you to physically give to the immigration office.

@Benjamin *****
- I do not think that interests them. They are not reporting to immigration now. I still don't know what tm30 form to use, if I can get them to fill it out.

@Scot ******
are you renting from a hotel, or an AirBnB?
Scot *******

@Benjamin *****
- a hotel near Nana plaza.
Benjamin ******
@Scot ******
The hotel should do the TM30, or send the form to the immigration office. You may be able to "Self File" the TM30 at Muang Thong Thani. You may be fined 800 THB for failure to the hotel for not filing the TM30

- makes sense. 🙄

Scot Smith. The hotel will know it as Section 38 as they do it online. TM30 applies only to the paper form
Scot *******

@Bobby *******
- they are not doing it online, they didn't look at our passports.
Bobby ********
Scot Smith. If it's a proper hotel, not a hostel or Airbnb I would take your reservation notice and your receipt to immigration. It is the responsibility of the hotel to do this, and the blame should be placed with them. I've never known a hotel not to do this, it's generally private landlords who try to avoid it
Scot *******

@Bobby *******
- it is a hotel, it is listed with Expedia and others, but we walked in to stay. We do have receipts, that do not have their name on it, but we do have a card for the hotel. They said they would fill out the tm30.
Benjamin ******
>we must go to the mtt immigration office, not cw

Correct!

> Is that by any chance counter k?

Correct! They only process 300 people a day because of COVID-19. You can apply when you have 45 days or less remaining on your existing stamp.

> Is the best way to get there by grab taxi?

Depends on which part of Bangkok you're in. Probably grab or a regular taxi. The GPS address is 13.

They will need a regular TM30. You will hand them one of the following documents (see attached below).

>Our hotel also does not have a printer, so we will have to find a place to print one out.

IF they are open, there is a printing place on the 4th floor of Chumchari Square mall, close by MBK shopping mall. I'm sure there other printing places too.

> I assume we can get the tm7 at the office and fill it out there

Correct

> it is true we can get the photos there as well?

I think you can. Photos at immigration offices cost more then at most places though.

that's at Chaengwattana NOT at MTT

- the tm30 is a full page form is it not? Also, are you saying I can do it online? Isn't something required from the hotel?

We can do this now? 45 days or less? We can just show up?
Benjamin ******
@Scot ******
>the tm30 is a full page form is it not?

The TM30 is a full page form. After it is submitted, you would get *ONE* of the three screenshots back (depending on how it was submitted). This requires information from the property owner, including their "house book", which most Thais are very uncomfortable handing over because of identify theft.

> We can do this now? 45 days or less? We can just show up?

Correct! The appointment system is not working correctly

> I guess I was thinking it could not be done until 3 days left, I thought that's what I read

That is for people who entered on a 60 day tourist visa using Changwattana immigration office. You entered on a 45 day visa exempt, so you would use Muang Thong Thani

@Benjamin *****
- the only submission of a tm30 I have ever done is the full page form I submitted to Jomtien in the past. The hotel then helped me fill out the form.
