TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain an Elite visa while in Phuket, you must start the application process online. Once your application is approved, which can take 4-6 weeks, you will need to pay the associated fee. The visa can only be issued at the CW office in Bangkok, and it is crucial to be on a specific visa type to be eligible for this procedure. If you are on a tourist visa, you should also process the visa at CW in Bangkok. It may be beneficial to contact a local law firm for assistance in handling the application process while you're in Phuket.

You don't need to travel to Bangkok, you can just send your passport to Bangkok. Thai Elite has an office in Bangkok, they will handle it for you.

this is good news but what if your passport get lost?

@Het***
If that's a concern then you'll need to travel to Bangkok.

Hettie Roche. I still don't understand your logic. I've travelled Bangkok/Phuket return three times in the last six weeks and I'm still alive. You can come out from under the bed now 🤣

They will only issue inside the country if you are a certain visa type. If you're a tourist visa then no problem and done at CW in Bangkok.

certain visa type? Extension?
Garrett ***********
@Het***
No, you can transition from any visa to an Elite visa inside the country.

my friend had the 5 year Elite. He then for the 20 year one and was told he had to fly out and come back to get his new visa. You need to phone Thailand elite and confirm exactly which visas are and are not before making such statements. I was told the same.

I know, you mentioned that last month. That experience is inconsistent with the experience others have had though. It is possible you and your friend were advised incorrectly. At present, all visas can be obtained in country (Non B, Non O marriage, retirement, volunteer). There is no reason why a PE visa would be an exception to that.

please phone them and confirm. I spent weeks in communication with them and they simply wouldn't answer the question. So when it came time to handing the money over they told me and I declined the visa. I now need a Non O that I cannot apply for inside the country. I need again to leave and come back on a tourist visa and can do it. Siam Legal also confirmed all this. Please phone them and check for yourself.
Garrett ***********
@B**
What Non-O do you need that you can't get?

@Garrett **********
retirement. I have tried agencies and as soon as you tell them you have the 800 thousand already or ask if you can continue doing 90 reports at your local immigration they suddenly turn round and say they cannot do it. So that confirmed to me that what they themselves are doing isn't legal. I am stuck in limbo until they either fully open the borders or relax the rules.
Garrett ***********
@B**
You can transition to an Non- O based on retirement in country. Previously you could NOT transition to a visa in country if you were on amnesty. However at this time no one should be on amnesty, everyone should be at the very least a 60 day EXTENSION based on not being able to travel.

Just heard they are about to confirm the covid extension until 30 th march. That may help some. Have you heard anything about this?

@Bim ******
is that true?
Bim *******
@Hettie ******
yes. Phone them and ask and see what they say. They have just put the price up also. Let me know what they tell you
Bim *******
@Garrett **********
not what my immigration told me last week when I got stamped in until end of March. I will check with Siam Legal and if true all my prayers will answered. The one agency who still stay in touch with me on line app state it cannot be done. I will get back you in that one.

@Hettie ******
what visa are you currently on?
Garrett ***********
You need to start the application online. Once approved (takes 4-6weeks) you pay the fee and then they give you a letter.

Inside Thailand you can only be issued the visa at CW in Bangkok.

@Garrett **********
so I guess you can be issued elite visa ONLY in Bangkok..
Garrett ***********
@Het***
So inside the country, only the immigration office in Bangkok. If you're flying internationally, BKK, Phuket, and Chiang Mai can issue the visa.
