Does anyone know how we are suppposed to get official documents like birth certificates and marriage certificates from the US notarized. The US embassy in Chiang Mai and in Bangkok doesn’t do it anymore, yet it’s still required for family members following on my work visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The U.S. Embassy in Bangkok and the U.S. Consulate in Chiang Mai no longer authenticate public documents such as birth and marriage certificates. To get these documents notarized for use in Thailand, follow these steps: 1. Check the authentication certificate requirements for the document on the U.S. State Department's website. 2. Visit the Royal Thai Embassy for document legalization. 3. Go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thailand for further legalization. For more detailed guidance, refer to the appropriate U.S. government resources.

You are not the only 'Murican that is in this position now, it's came up over and over since they stopped those notaries

U.S. Embassy in Bangkok and U.S. Consulate in Chiang Mai are unable to authenticate public documents issued in the United States. Such documents include vital records (birth, marriage, death and divorce), as well as academic, commercial, or other credentials.

Please find detailed steps for Authentications of U.S. documents to be used abroad below and which will ensure your documents meet authentication requirements demanded by Thai authorities during your stay in Thailand.

@Lloyd *******
thank you. I did read this but since we are here in Thailand it’s not possible to go to our local state offices and get the documents notarized so I’m curious if there is a workaround to this

nope, there's NO work around and you send the documents to someone in your country and get it done that way..
