Hi I have a friend who left the country due to illness but never cancelled their visa their work cancelled their work permit. How can they cancel their visa can it be done from overseas or can they get an agent to do it here. Also their passport is full so they'll be getting a new passport.

They may return next year to work.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the process for cancelling a Thai visa from overseas, after their friend's work permit had been cancelled due to illness. Responses indicated that the visa cannot be cancelled from outside Thailand and that an agent cannot assist without the original passport. Additionally, there is a potential fine of 20,000 baht for future visa applications if the visa remains active.

Bottled water is around 10 baht in

for one small bottle and peanuts for big ones.

They can't do any of that from outside the country and an agent can't do it either because you need the passport to cancel it.

With a new passport there's a possibility it won't come up in the future, but if it does they'll have to pay the 20,000 baht fine to be able to get the work extension or any other long term extension.

They could post mail to sent the passport to an Agent.

you would mail your passport to an unknown agent in another country? Sounds like a good way to get yourself in an even bigger predicament.

You can always get a new one. And parent pointed out: he is about to get a new one.

yes, but not getting your passport back is not the worst thing that could happen.

And what actually would happen if I sent my passport to an agent to cancel a visa. It is a passport. Not testament.

why do you think passports get stolen all the time?

@Brandon ***********
No idea. The point is: the guy in question has a passport full with stamps. Only the "cancel visa stamp" is missing. So, he can mail it to his friend, that is the guy who asked the question. And the author of this post can go with the passport and the agent to immigration.

No idea what you are nitpicking about. I guess passports never get stolen. A damn bag that happens to have a passport inside gets stolen.

normal guidance is never mail a valid passport.

Yeah, and the institutions issuing passports always break that guidance.

you might want to reread your comment and either edit or delete unless you let people know how obtuse you are to not undetstand the difference in the passport office delivering a newly issued passport and an individual randomly mailing their passport to a third party.

@Ken ******
He is mailing the passport to a friend. And no: I do not know the difference. What would it be? Could you enlighten us? What could you do with my passport if I mail it to you? Nothing obviously. So ... what is your point?

I'll look into that and see if it is an option. Thanks
