Hi there,

my ED visa expires by the end of the month. How do I switch to the covid-tourist-extension? I am living in Chiang Mai, if this should make a difference.

Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
To switch from an ED visa to a COVID-19 tourist extension in Chiang Mai, you need to cancel your current ED visa at the immigration office where it was issued. Obtain documentation from your school stating that you will stop studying when your current extension expires. Approximately a week before your ED visa expires, go to the immigration office to cancel your ED visa and apply for the 60-day COVID tourist extension.

Which Thai immigration office did you get your Ed visa stamp from? You will need to cancel your Ed Visa at that immigration office and apply for the COVID extension.

You get documentation from your school stating you stop studying on the date your current extension stamp expires, you go to the immigration office about a week before that date, they will cancel the ED extension you're on now and then you would immediately apply for a 60 day covid extension.
