Howdy. Iโ€™m here on an ED visa through a Muay Thai gym in chiang mai. I am in Krabi currently and Iโ€™m due back to CM to extend the visa for its final 3 months.

I would prefer to stay in Krabi and not fly back to CM for obvious reasons.

Am I able to go to immigration here in Krabi to hop onto a tourist visa? What are my options? Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on an ED visa obtained through a Muay Thai gym in Chiang Mai, but is in Krabi and prefers to remain there rather than travel back to Chiang Mai for a visa extension. They inquire whether they can apply for a tourist visa at the local immigration office in Krabi. Responses indicate that a tourist visa cannot be obtained while in Thailand; they would need to return to Chiang Mai for a final 90-day extension or cancel their current visa while providing documentation from their educational institution to apply for a 60-day COVID extension. General advice stresses visiting the Krabi immigration office for assistance.

Transit can change the non o

@No**
Unless I'm mistaken no one gets in on a transit visa any more that I know of. That program was cancelled back when they closed the country in March 2020 and I don't think it was restarted.

I'm asking the embassy they said they have only 60 days Visa I dont no its extension or not and change the marriage Visa or not

@Tod ********
my wife is thai can I change the marriage Visa on transit 60 days ?

@Noor ********
there is no such thing as a 60 day transit visa :/ I think you're talking about a 60 day TOURIST visa. AND if you meet the requirements to apply for the in country 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage you can get one from a tourist visa at the immigration office here

can you elaborate please?

@Pat ********
a transit visa is bought at a thai consulate in your country before you come here and used to stamp you in for 30 days when you arrived and after that you had to 'transit' to another country.
Noor *********
This 30 day have quarantine also

@Tod ********
but I heard some peoples said change the immigration extension?
Tod *********
Okay
@Pat ********
, the way that works IS

You can only use the immigration office in the area where the school is to get that last 90 day extension OR to cancel the extension and apply for a 60 day covid extension

So no matter which way you decide to go, you're gonna slog on up to Chiang Mai to either apply for the last 90 day extension OR to get a letter from your school saying you stop studying on xxx date, cancel the extension you're on and apply right then for a 60 day covid extension.
Tod *********
I'd call the school and see if they can do the final 90 day extension for you if you EMS your passport up to them.. SOME schools (especially the ones that were getting 'under the table' visas/extensions can do that

@Tod ********
i don't think u should be promoting schools that do 'under the table' visas/extensions to him. ๐Ÿค”
Tod *********
And did I name ANY school
@Ni**
? I think you got your wires crossed or mis-remembered what I wrote.

I alluded to the schools getting under the table, wink-n-nod, ED visa/extensions for their students as possibly being able to help BUT only the O/P will know if they're enrolled in a school like that or not.. ;)

Careful "casting dispersions" :P
Nick *******
@Tod ********
, did i say u named any schools? What i SAID was u shouldn't even be mentioning that schools do this. Be careful what u say on here. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Green by name green by nature, think Mr Daniels knows what he is doing as far as Thailand goes

& ur point?
Michael ********
@Nick ******
none same as your irrelavant comment, not been in Thailand very long have you
Nick *******
@Michael *******
haha ur joking pal. Been here nearly 13yrs. Obviously u havn't. My so called irrelavant comment wasn't even to you. But nevermind good try. Keep taking the pills.
Nick *******
Why people on these forums have to try & better eachother? Very childish & insecure me thinks. Who cares how long expats hav lived here. That should make no difference to any comments made on here. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ
Tod *********
@Ni**
you're the one who felt the need to say how long you've managed to be in this tiny insignificant developing third world country :O (as if it lent any credibility to your statements :P)

Saying there are schools that "grease the wheels" to get people ED visas/extension or saying there are agencies who can get your visa/extension with just your passport and a pile of money carries NO inherent danger.

It is what it is.

Now how about you dial back the faux outrage a notch or three..
Nick *******
@Tod ********
i did NOT hav the need to say how long ive stayed here. I couldn't give a monkeys arse. And as i said before u should NOT talk about under the table visas or extenstions on these forums. End Off.

Maybe u should dial bac the faux outrage a notch or five..

Too many people on here think they know it all, if u know what i mean ๐Ÿ˜‰
Tod *********
@Ni**
, sure looks like you did :P

I bow to your 'finite' wisdom of "all-thingz-thai". How about we agree to disagree and leave it at that?
Nick *******
@Tod ********
oh god so difficult to explain simple things on here. Why are u so bothered? I say it ONE more time. I said it coz the so called moderator was implying that i have not lived here that long. So obviously i told how long i lived here for the simple reason that there are so many expats on here trying to better eachother to a point where it is embarrassing. Seems like ur one of them who like to prove a point on every opportunity. Ru u stuck out in the woods in Isan with nothing to do in ur life or something? ๐Ÿ˜ด

You cannot obtain a tourist visa inside the country. You MAY be able to apply for an unable to travel due to Covid extension, but you may have to get a letter from your school saying you're ending your studies. I'm not completely clear on that, but you'll need a TM30 from the province you are in to utilize the immigration office there usually.
