I can’t find the perfect answer so I’m posting this topic:
My ED(ucation) Visa ist expiring on 26th February and I don’t want to go to school anymore. My plan was to switch to the Volunteer Visa (possible).
But now I think about, to use the Covid Extension (on a Tourist Visa) first (until April) and apply after to Volunteer.
Is it in general possible to switch from ED Visa back to Tourist Visa and then to Volunteer? Has somebody maybe already experience?
Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on whether it is possible to switch from an Education Visa (ED Visa) to a Tourist Visa, and subsequently to a Volunteer Visa in Thailand. The comments suggest that while the user can cancel their ED Visa and apply for a 60-day Covid extension, they will need to coordinate with the organization they plan to volunteer with before applying for the Volunteer Visa.
Now as far as going from a 60 day covid extension to a 90 day Non-O visa based on volunteering, that is between you and the foundation you're going to volunteer at. Talk to them, BUT there is no problem cancelling your current ED visa extension and applying for a 60 day covid extension
okay what you wouldn't be doing is getting ANY type of "tourist visa" in country,.
You would take paperwork from your school stating you no longer study on xxx date (usually the date your ED extension runs out) you go to the immigration office where you get your ED visa extensions with that document, cancel your extension and immediately apply for a 60 day unable to travel due to covid extension.
