Police check - anyone recommend an agent for obtaining police check for Australia visa, I already had one but they didn’t include my maiden name so very annoying need it redone. I have had a quote from Siam Legal but quite expensive (16000bhat). Given the police check itself only costs 100bhat hoping there is something a bit cheaper. I am no longer in Thailand so can’t just fly to Bangkok and get it done unfortunately like I did last time.
Answer summary
An expat is seeking recommendations for an agent to help obtain a Thai police check for an Australia visa, as their previous check did not include their maiden name. They mentioned an expensive quote from Siam Legal and are looking for cheaper options since they are currently outside of Thailand. Community members suggest using local agents or translation services in Bangkok to facilitate the process and provide several links and personal experiences related to obtaining police checks from abroad.

I needed a thai police report when i applied for a visa in Ecuador several years ago. Unfortunately, i had already moved to Ecuador when i learned i needed the report. It wasn't feasible for me to return to Thailand to obtain the report, have it translated into Spanish, apostilled by the Ecuador Embassy, and sent to me in Ecuador.
So i contacted a translation service in Bangkok to see if they would be willing to essentially be my agent to facilitate the processing of the police report on my behalf and then FedEx to me in Ecuador.
I was delighted they said yes. We agreed on a very reasonable fee. Then i went online to complete the request for the Thai police report on the Thai Royal Police website. But instead of instructing them to FedEx the report to Ecuador, i had them deliver it to the translation service in Bangkok, which was only a few blocks away. The translation service then translated the report into Spanish, hand carried it to the Ecuadorian Embassy to be apostilled, and then sent the translated report to me by FedEx overnight express. The whole process worked like a dream and i think the entire cost was less than $50 US.
I understand some of your needs may be different. But the bottom line is you can hire an agent in Bangkok to assist in facilitating the entire process. And it doesn't need to be an official visa agent. I just used a translation service business i found on an internet search that was more than happy for the job. I forget the name of the service, but I'm sure you can find a suitable business to serve as your agent. (You could also have a friend do it).
Hope this is helpful. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Good luck
Snowmuchfun1980 it wasn't an agency. It was a commercial business that translates documents into various languages. However, the translation service was happy to also serve as my agent and representative to go through the various hoops to get my thai police report needs met. They were terrific. Can't remember the name though. But you might want to start by doing a Google search for translation services in Bangkok and see what comes up. Good luck
