What are the options for obtaining a long-term visa in Thailand if I lack sufficient funds?

Good day all. Looking for some constructive advise, assistance / referral. In 2025, I visited Thailand a number of times using it as my base whilst conducting mainly business visits in Asia. I visited eight times and stayed over 120 days. Now that the rules have changed, due to the accrued time from last year, I don’t think I have any chance of getting a standard Visa. As I don’t know what my movements will be in the next 6 to 12 months, I want to get myself a six or 12 month Visa, but I don’t have the required amounts of funds sat in my bank account for the time period that either the six or 12 month Visa requires.

I’ve seen people post that they have been able to secure the six or 12 month Visa using a company that puts the money into your account for a period of time whilst the Visa process is completed. Is this actually a thing?

If so, I’m interested to find out more and be introduced to an established and trustworthy business/ agent that can take care of this.

Thanks very much in advance for your assistance and advice 🙏🏼

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on obtaining a six or twelve-month visa for Thailand due to changes in visa rules and their inability to meet the required funds in their bank account. They mention hearing about a service that temporarily deposits money into accounts to help secure visas. The community provides responses suggesting alternative options like the METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa), the Non-B Business visa, and the suggestion to consider local immigration rules and practices. Some responses indicate skepticism about recent rule changes, emphasizing the importance of understanding visa regulations and pointing to the necessity of financial proof for visa applications.

If you conduct business in Thailand as part of this get a Non-B Business visa

Forget about using a Thai Visa Agent to obtain a Thai Visa. You should be able to easily obtain a METV multiple entry tourist visa from your home country Thai Embassy or Consulate. The METV can get you up to 8 months stay in Thailand with a couple of simple land border bounces.

BUT what is your passport nation?

Where are you now?

Why are you coming to Thailand so many times each year?

Are you an off shore oil worker?

Are you Married to Thai?

Father of a Thai child?

In 2025, did you obtain the 30 day extension of stay from your local Thai Immigration office?

METV multiple entry visa, You must apply from your home country. Surely if you're in and out of Thailand last year eight times doing business you have 50,000 baht at your disposal to show the financial stability to acquire this visa.

There were NO rule changes.

There was and is no maximum amount of days you can stay in Thailand other then admitted or permitted by the stamp in your passport.

If you do not have 20.000 Thb or equivalent currency in a bank account, i can not believe all your business travels.

rules changed in November. I flew in and out every time before last November, never a question asked. Onward flights always booked and more recently declared through TDAC.

What is there not to believe?

You’ve obviously not read what I’ve posted. For the visa it is likely that I’ll need, they are asking for THB 500k for 6 months prior now.

And FYI, I travelled for around 220 days for business. I am a VP Business Development in the Oil & Gas sector.

Read up before you make such comments.

:Yep, I do read a lot of comments of foreigners telling new rules.

I read announcements of Immigration, but there were NO new rules, or changes of rules.

Strictness in enforcement is not a new rule.
