Thank you all. Spending 3 weeks in KL and thought it'll be a good idea to get it done while here... Looks like i was wrong.

Forget KL Thai Embassy... it's difficult.
@Tod ********
gave you excellent advice. Suggest you follow it.

The 3 easiest Thai Consulates to apply for a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) at are

Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam

Taipei Taiwan at the Thailand Trade and Economic Office

a lot of people been going to Cambodia Is that not easy there?

@Eric ******
it's a FIVE working day processing time not counting the day you apply so you're in Phnom Penh a week minimum, AND they are not the most user friendly consulate around plus they're 400USD for the visa where HCMC is only 340 USD 😮
Tod *********
Why are you so hell bent on applying at possibly the HARDEST thai consulate in S/E Asia to get a DTV from?

Why not go to at thai consulate in HCMC Vietnam, Jakarta Indonesia, Taipei Taiwan or even Vientiane or Savannakhet Lao?

What is the "I need to go to KL for this DTV" fixation? 😉

cause I'm 3 weeks in KL anyway for some stuff. Guess i need to go elsewhere then. Looks like Taipei it is.

I’m trying to learn. Why is there so much harder Will others be less strict
Wannikea *********
@Eric ******
Seriously?! Tod says that one is the hardest in SE ASIA, and you ask if others will be less strict. Please engage your thinking cap.

@Eric ******
each consulate is free to set their own requirements (within reason) it's just so variable and reports from KL are they are TOUGH on that "embassy stamp" for documents on the "work-cation" category
Eric *******
@Tod ********
good to know. Because idk how I’m going to get the embassy stamp in Asia Seems like a lot of work
Tod *********
@Eric ******
you would go to your embassy in Malaysia with your documents and pay to have them stamp them just like everyone else who uses the KL thai consulate does to get their documents "certified"
James ********
Suggest you read the posts about getting the DVT visa in Malaysia on the Thai Visa Advice forum. Your answers are there.
Tod *********
they mean you have to GO to your embassy in Malaysia and get the documents stamped FROM them

It's the reason people are going to Jakarta Indonesia rather than using Kuala Lumpur or Penang for the DTV

I'm not American. But my company is a US LLC, and my client company is based in the US. So do i go to the US embassy or the embassy of my passports country? I haven't lived in my passports country for 20 years.
Tod *********
Anonymous participant no you go to the US Embassy IN Malaysia and get the documents stamped by them Don't care if you're american or not, you have a US company you need to get the docs stamped by the US Embassy in Malaysia (or what ever country you're in if you aren't there yet)

I'm currently in BKK. So you mean i can swing by the US embassy here and bring copies of my US LLC formation documents and my freelance contract with my US client and they'll stamp it?
Tod *********
Anonymous participant you aren't gonna "swing by" but you can make an appt to get documents stamped by the embassy, it's 50 USD a stamp per page

I think you'll actually have better luck with the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur because you're not the first person who needed those stamps for their documentation there

50$ per stamp wtf. I'm flying to Taipei instead.
Andi ***********
Anonymous participant yes it is expensive to get those embassy stamps...I have had to do it before.
Andi ***********
Anonymous participant yes you can go to the US Embassy in Bangkok for authentication.

I’m interested in point 5. And I also plan to apply in KL. Did you have to provide this evidence? Seems strange to provide this proof before the visa is even accepted 🤔

i emailed the consulate now and waiting to hear back. Could book an Airbnb or hotel for 6 months if they accept that. Plus loads or 100% refundable if u change your mind later.
Eric *******
I’m curious bc I’ll be outside of usa and don’t know how they will authenticate it also

from the US embassy in KL? I'm not even American. Not sure that will work.
Andi ***********
Anonymous participant Not need to be American to go to USA Embassy. You have an American company so you need to go there for authentication.
Tod *********
Anonymous participant you go to Kuala Lumpur and then to the US Embassy there to get the documents stamped so you can apply for the DTV at the thai consulate in KL
James ********
@Tod ********
he's not an American, per reply above.

Anonymous participant revert to your llc's secretary for the administration, or if you have the llc extract complying for authentication purposes
