Anyone tried in Kuala Lumpur? What do they mean by "authenticated by the embassy" - i have an LLC in the US, and contracts with clients in the US. How do i get them authenticated?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks guidance on how to get their LLC contracts authenticated by the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur for a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV). Several commenters clarify that authentication involves obtaining a stamp from the US Embassy in Malaysia. They advise considering alternative locations for visa application, highlighting that applying in Kuala Lumpur may be challenging. They also suggest exploring local resources, like the Thai Visa Advice forum, for additional information.
it's a FIVE working day processing time not counting the day you apply so you're in Phnom Penh a week minimum, AND they are not the most user friendly consulate around plus they're 400USD for the visa where HCMC is only 340 USD 😮
each consulate is free to set their own requirements (within reason) it's just so variable and reports from KL are they are TOUGH on that "embassy stamp" for documents on the "work-cation" category
you would go to your embassy in Malaysia with your documents and pay to have them stamp them just like everyone else who uses the KL thai consulate does to get their documents "certified"
I'm not American. But my company is a US LLC, and my client company is based in the US. So do i go to the US embassy or the embassy of my passports country? I haven't lived in my passports country for 20 years.
Anonymous participant no you go to the US Embassy IN Malaysia and get the documents stamped by them Don't care if you're american or not, you have a US company you need to get the docs stamped by the US Embassy in Malaysia (or what ever country you're in if you aren't there yet)
I'm currently in BKK. So you mean i can swing by the US embassy here and bring copies of my US LLC formation documents and my freelance contract with my US client and they'll stamp it?
Anonymous participant you aren't gonna "swing by" but you can make an appt to get documents stamped by the embassy, it's 50 USD a stamp per page
I think you'll actually have better luck with the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur because you're not the first person who needed those stamps for their documentation there
I’m interested in point 5. And I also plan to apply in KL. Did you have to provide this evidence? Seems strange to provide this proof before the visa is even accepted 🤔
i emailed the consulate now and waiting to hear back. Could book an Airbnb or hotel for 6 months if they accept that. Plus loads or 100% refundable if u change your mind later.
Anonymous participant you go to Kuala Lumpur and then to the US Embassy there to get the documents stamped so you can apply for the DTV at the thai consulate in KL
