Hi All

I arrive from UK on a 60 day toursit visa soon and I wish to extend for the 30 days extension. My question is at what point do you extend the visa can you do it any time in the first 60 days you are there or is there a deadline ... Cheers

Answer summary

You can extend your 60-day tourist visa for an additional 30 days at designated immigration offices in Thailand. Major places like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Buri Ram allow you to extend your visa up to 45 days prior to its expiration, while most other locations permit extensions up to 30 days in advance. It is advisable to extend your visa early, as they will simply add the extra days to your current stamp. Additionally, ensure that your medical insurance covers the extended stay, as proof will be required.

Make sure your medical insurance covers for the additional 30 days, they will ask for it.

they won't. No insurance required for tourist visa extension.

So you need insurance for a 60 day tourist visa for the TP, but not for an extension for the same tourist visa.

correct. You only need insurance that covers your entry. They don't care when you go to get the 30 day extension

Offices like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Buri Ram allow 45 days prior. Most others allow 30 days prior. There’s no downside to going early as they add the days on to your current stamp.
