Hi, I need some info about extending the tourist TR visa at Chaengwattana. Is it possible to book a time slot online or do you need to queue (I've heard it takes ages)? Also what's the timing for obtaining the extension? Do they do it on the same day you do the request or have to go back and pick it up a different day? I've got 2 weeks left on the visa now, not sure when it's the best time to go (does the extension start from the last day on the visa or from the day we physically go to do the extension application?) Thank you very much!

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your Tourist TR visa at Chaengwattana, you can either book an appointment online or queue up without one. Booking an appointment is recommended as it allows you to be seen promptly. If you go without an appointment, be prepared for a potentially long wait. The extension process is straightforward; you can submit your application up to two weeks before your visa expires, and the 30-day extension is added to your current expiration date, ensuring you don't lose any days before your current visa ends. Just be aware of the office's closure days when planning your visit.

You have to explicitly mention you have an appointment too from memory? Not sure if you tell the guy that gives you the ticket or the actual official?

Not been there for a while but yeah isn't the best organised

, you don't even get a queue number when you go to Chaengwattana for a tourist visa extension with a booked appointment.

You just go to Counter J and show them the print out of the appointment

Ahh ok, I remember I had a queue number before and I went to the normal counter and told them I had an appointment but got given a ticket still. Maybe it's better now

it's actually much more awkward now. You go to the counter you have an appointment for and kind of stand at the entrance to the desks and try to make eye contact with the person at your assigned desk and hope they notice you but they probably already have someone at their desk so you just stand there in limbo not sure what to do ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

You can book and appointment, show up 15 minutes before with all the copies, forms etc you need and get seen right away OR you can queue up with the zombie horde.

Keep in mind next week immigrations in Bangkok is closed Wed, Thurz, Fri, so if you're going this comin' week you need to do it Mon or Tues.

Sadly, if you queue up without an appt it takes as long as it takes, although as a rule Tues-Wed-Thurs are better than Mondayz or Fridayz,

The 30 day extension is ADDED to your current expiration date so you don't lose any days going before the current stamp expires.

Here's the link to make an appointment for Counter J
