Hello! I am an Australian passport holder and I’m currently on an Ed visa with a Muay Thai school. I am wanting to change to DTV after my 6 months is up. Potentially in Australia as I will go home to visit family. Has anyone had experience with changing from Ed to DTV and is it straightforward? I would be applying under soft power Muay Thai with my same school. Also anyone had experience applying soft power Muay Thai from

Australia? I am also open to using an agent if anyone has a recommendation?

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian passport holder on an Ed visa with a Muay Thai school is seeking advice on transitioning to a DTV visa after their current visa expires. The conversation reveals that switching from an Ed visa to a DTV is generally straightforward, provided the Ed visa is properly canceled before applying. Several commenters share their experiences, noting that documentation from the Muay Thai school is crucial for the DTV application, especially verifying the gym's licensing status and accreditation. It’s recommended to apply through the Thai consulate in Australia, as the process is reported to be efficient. There’s also advice to consider using an agent if needed.

Have you spoken to your Muay Thai gym? Can they provide you with the DTV documents? If they've never done this before, it's a bit challenging and could, in the worst case, be rejected. For example, if the gym doesn't have a valid license, the business isn't properly registered, the trainers aren't licensed, or they're not accredited by the Ministry of Sports. I'm no expert, but there's a list of requirements the gym must meet, and it all needs to be properly compiled so that the consulate won't have any unnecessary queries

I was on an education visa. Cancelled it and returned to aus. Applied for DTV visa. Took 3 weeks through Sydney embassy. Bit long but straight forward. I applied through the remote worker stream.

Doubtful you're on an ED VISA any longer and most likely you're on an "extension of stay" <- LOOK at the stamp in your passport you got from the immigration office and see if that's what it says

There's no issue going from an extension of stay (for any reason) to a DTV

You shouldn't have any problem applying online thru the thai consulate in Australia based on where you live while you have that ED extension in your passport, it won't affect your application at all

Have the correct documentation from the Muay Thai school that you can upload when you apply for the DTV and you will be good
