Can I switch from a language school visa to a DTV visa in Thailand?

I have been in Thailand for two years on a language school visa. I am thinking of getting a DTV visa next month.

Has anyone with a history of a language school visa applied for a DTV VISA?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The possibility of transitioning from a language school visa (ED visa) to a DTV visa in Thailand is affirmed by multiple individuals. Before applying for the DTV visa, it is essential to cancel your ED visa at the immigration office where it was issued. Note that your stay in Thailand officially concludes upon canceling the ED visa, which may incur overstay fees if not addressed timely. Experiences shared indicate that the switch to a DTV visa is straightforward as many others have successfully done this, with no complications reported regarding prior ED visa statuses.

yes. no problem at all with the DTV process. application, entering the country, extending. previous ED is never a problem. just leave thailand and it the ED will be canceled anyway and then apply for the DTV.

ED Visa gets flagged by Thai immigration. Before it was Volunteer Visa, now it's Student Visa. Wonder what's next...

there is no „flagging of ed visa“. its not true at all what you are saying and it does not effect the DTV process at all!!

The importance of getting any Thai Visa legally is key 🗝️

I've been in Thailand for 7yrs, I had 2 years consecutive student visa and canceled it before leaving Thailand. Applied in Taipei in March 13 and got interviewed today, March 17 and got an approved email 4.5hrs after my interview ✅

My goal as well.

It's completely fine. You just need to cancel ur ED visa first (at the same immigration office u got that visa from) before leaving Thailand to apply DTV. Keep this in mind also, ur stay terminates the same day u cancel the visa so you will have to pay overstay fees of 500 bahts per day until you leave Thailand.

NOPE 👎

yeah but that's not the proper way. They stated that a non-immigrant visa should be cancelled first if you want to change visa type.

Yes, I had an ED-Visa and when it expired I went aboard to apply for DTV (softpower). Good luck! 🍀❤️

Yes we have many people doing this though my Muay Thai camp(applying soft power route), you just have to cancel your student visa before applying DTV.
